EDUCATION DISTRICT II HOLDS CULTURAL FESTIVAL IN IGBOGBO

To ensure core values of the rich cultural heritage of Lagos are not lost among the upcoming generation, the Lagos State Education District II recently celebrated the year 2023 Cultural Festival at the Palace of Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali as the Chief Host.

The Tutor-General/ Permanent Secretary of the District, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, in her address, appreciated the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for the opportunity to impact the lives of Students across the State and how the dynamic T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of Mr. Governor on Education is improving the state’s education sector and breaking limits every day.

She also noted that the Governor has done so much to showcase the rich culture of Lagos State both locally and internationally.

Adekanye further remarked that the strategic development of Education in Lagos State has been unprecedented under the leadership of the Commissioner for Basic Education and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun.

The Adeboruwa of the Igbogbo kingdom, Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali expressed his happiness for witnessing the monumental event in his domain, he equally educated the participating Students on the notable aspects of yoruba rich culture that should be embraced and nurtured.

Hundreds of students across the District had the opportunity to experience traditional culture, values, and lifestyle at the Palace of the royal father of the kingdom

The students also participated in several cultural segments and activities ranging from cultural dance, folktale, drama, traditional songs and dressing, poetry and local food preparation competitions.
