Hundreds of Lagos bound commuters were today stranded at the Ikorodu garage terminal of the Blue bus rapid transport (BRT) buses, operated by Primero Transport Services Limited, based in Ikorodu.
Angry commuters took to their social media pages to decry the incessant ‘strike’ and withdrawal of the blue BRT buses from the road, without any formal communication from the transport company. The same situation was also noticed across other terminals of the transport company in Lagos.
As at the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by the transport company on the reason for this development.
Meanwhile, some commuters have expressed their anger and frustration on the alleged incessant practices by Primero transport company and have therefore called on the Lagos state government to put an end to Primero’s monopoly on the BRT corridor.
An angry commuter who goes by the name, General Bashexy wrote ‘This monopoly needs to stop. Primero BRT buses are not operating from Ikorodu this morning, why? As usual, nobody knows, other commercial buses are now taking advantage of the present situation’.
Another stranded passenger who goes by the name, Arizona, summarized the situation thus, ‘it is a very sad experience this morning, this needs to stop’ he said.
Efforts to get an official statement from the Primero transport company on the reason for the development proved abortive, as there has been no response to phone calls and text messages sent to the company’s phone lines.
