COMMENDATIONS AS IKORODU COUNCIL CHAIR, HON ADESHINA FLAGS OFF OTAMBALA-ODUGATE LINK ROAD, 40 YEARS AFTER FIRST CONSTRUCTION

Forty years after the first surfacing of Otambala Street, in Ikorodu, the administration of Hon Wasiu Adeshina has flagged off the rehabilitate of the failed link road.

Speaking today at the flag-off ceremony of the road rehabilitation, Adeshina noted that the road is a major link road connecting Ireshe Road and Aga to Ita-Elewa, Oriwu Road and other parts of Ikorodu.

The council boss stressed that the road was also very strategic, considering the fact that it is bounded by major markets like Obun-Ale, Ajina and Iworo Markets, thus playing significant role in the economic prosperity of the community.

‘When repaired, it would foster easy access to the Obun-Ale and Ajina Markets close to the road. People can move their goods to and from the markets easily and this is very important as it links about 6 roads, including Ireshe street, Odugate street, thus making the road very important. The people are just as happy as I am for this development’, he stated.

Hon Adeshina went back memory lane, tracing the history of the first surfacing of the road to about forty years ago, during the administration of Late Mathew Awolesi, under whom Adeshina served as Councillor.

He therefore expressed excitements for flagging off the reconstruction of the same road, 40 years after.

‘The road is very important because the former Council Chairman, Honorable Matthew Awolesi, did the surfacing of the road about 40years ago and the road is now badly delapidated. I then decided to come back to repair the road because I served under the Awolesi administration and that brings back the memory that we need to repair the road’.

‘Moreover, the Odugate road is at the The community agitated for an extension of the road to Odugate, which I have approved. This shows that we are rehabilitating OTAMBALA-ODUGATE road here in Ikorodu and that give me the privilege and the joy to be serving my community and bringing Ikorodu into a proper state’, he added.

Responding to the demands of residents, Adeshina approved the extension of the road project to Odugate Street, to the excitements of all attendees.

Adeshina assured residents of the area that the road would be delivered in three months, thus charging them to work with his government by paying their rates, to foster development.
