Few days to the commencement of the 2019 general elections, the ruling, All Progressives Congress (APC) has the All Progressive Congress (APC) has intensified its house-to-house campaigns across Ikorodu division, as different groups have continued to stage different shades of campaigns and rallies to support the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.
On Tuesday, 11th February, 2019 a group of APC loyalists and supporters from Ikorodu, led by a former acting Commissioner in the State, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola staged a massive mobile road show to canvass support for the candidates of the party at the forthcoming general elections.
Hon. Akinsola led the mobile procession from Homat School, Igbogbo in long convoy of private cars and branded buses campaign to major routes in Ikorodu division. Routes covered include, Igbogbo road, Ita-elewa-Ireshe, TOS Benson road, Ebute-Ipakodo, down to Ibeshe and back to Adeboruwa palace, Igbogbo.
It later proceeded to Agunfoye and Baiyeku communities in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA before terminating at Ikorodu Central, where a massive enlightenment programme was held for the residents of Ikorodu as many came out to support the party.
The procession stopped intermittently at major junctions on the way to dance, canvass supports for all APC candidates while also providing voters’ education to residents, passersby and commuters on the way.
Speaking on the reason behind the mobile campaign rally, sponsor of the rally, Hon Bimpe Akinsola stated that, as a party leader and member, she was compelled to contribute her little quota to the success of all APC candidates at the forthcoming elections.
“Ikorodu residents should come out and vote. Politics is a game of numbers; it is according to our votes that we get political appointments at the Federal and State level. And, the more we have people representing us, the better for the people. Ikorodu residents should vote all APC candidates because we have hope that this present government will do better things for us.” she said.
Hon. Babajimi Benson, candidate of the APC for the House of Representatives, Ikorodu federal constituency also joined the rally at Bayieku and also converged. He appealed to the residents to all come out and vote. He also reiterated the importance of voting all candidates of the party come Saturday stating that the party representatives would take Ikorodu town to the next level.
