A+ Disciples, a political group on the platform of the APC, is mobilizing support for the second term re-election campaign of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode as the executive governor of Lagos State recently marked its first anniversary with a PVC awareness walk across major roads in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
The group, which was formed exactly one year ago, prides itself as the first political group in Lagos State to endorse Gov Akinwunmi Ambode for second term in office at its formation on June 20th, 2017. The group, convened by Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, a former Special Adviser on Arts and Culture and acting Commissioner for Housing in Lagos State.
Hundreds of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA residents clad in a purple Ankara aso-ebi uniform joined the massive procession from the Homat Event Centre at Igbogbo to march across major streets of Igbogbo township and its environs. Many of the participants carried placards with various messages, aimed at sensitizing residents on the need to register and collect their PVCs before the closing day of registration on 17th August, 2018.
Speaking at the palace of the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, former state legislator and Acting Commissioner for Housing, who is also the Convener of A+ Disciples, state d that the march was a 3-in-1 event to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the A+ Disciples, mobilise residents to collect their PVCs and also to mark the birthday of Hon Sesan Daini, Executive Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
In her words, ‘the PVC is our weapon to cast our votes for the continuation of the good works and excellent development projects of the incumbent governor of the state, Mr Akinwunmi Dapo Ambode. His giant strides are all visible across Lagos State, hence he deserves a second term in office’ she said.
Earlier, Prince Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, a former Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, who also doubles as the Chairman of A+ Disciples stated that the group was the first to endorse Ambode for a second term in office, exactly one year ago, before other group started following the trend.
Meanwhile, the executive Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA whose birthday coincided with the PVC walk also enjoined party members to take the PVC registration and collection campaign beyond the walk, into the streets and homes across the LCDA.
‘If you ask me for the best gift you can give me for my birthday today, it is for you to mobilize everybody around you to go and register and collect their PVC and endeavour to vote for Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for second term’.
He added that, ‘the PVC is not an ordinary means of identification, it is their power and a tool to determine how they would be governed in 2019 and beyond. My advice to our people is for them to go and register at the newly created centres spread across Ikorodu Division’ he said.
Speaking on behalf of the Adeboruwa-in-Council, representing the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, who was unavoidably absent, Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo commended the PVC awareness initiatives of the A+ Disciples, stating that the PVC walk was in tandem with the directives of the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode to all traditional rulers across the state to mobilize their subjects to register and collect their PVCs.
Prominent among guests at the walk includes, Hon Babajimi Benson, member House of Reps, Ikorodu federal constituency, Hon N.S Sholaja, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency 2 and Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, an aspirant for Lagos East Senatorial District.
Others include, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Vice Chairman, Ikorodu LGA, Alh Sefiu Ogunyemi a.k.a Lobinto, Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, among many other APC LG Chairmen, leaders and party faithfuls.
