Igbogbo, an ancient Lagos State Community, is set to witness an unprecedented historic 10th Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa a Kingdom.
This follows the formal Inauguration of the 10th Coronation Anniversary Planning Committee yesterday, 25th January, by the first-class monarch .
Speaking at the inauguration of the Committee, Oba Kasali noted that Igbogbo has continued to witness tremendous growth and development under his reign, hence the need to show appreciation to God, through the Anniversary celebration.
The revered monarch equally stressed that he had been inundated with calls from many important Igbogbo sons, daughters, well-wishers and some of his colleague royal fathers, who have expressed their desire to join the community for such event.
Oba Adeboruwa also maintained that Igbogbo community has produced many prominent sons and daughters, who are making the community proud in different spheres of life and, as such, deserved to be in the spotlight through the Coronation Anniversary event.
Oba Kasali thus charged the 10th Coronation Anniversary Committee, led by a former Lagos State Head of Service, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, to plan a befitting and memorable commemorative event.
In his acceptance speech, Prince Segun Ogunlewe thanked the monarch for saddling him and his other Committee members with the responsibility while pledging his commitment and that of his committee towards hosting a historic event.
To demonstrate the readiness of his Committee for the task at hand, the retired Head of Service used the opportunity to reel out a proposed week-long line up of activities, which got the prompt blessing of the Royal Father.
The week-long event, which is billed to commence on Saturday, July 19, will climax on 25th July 2026, coinciding with the exact 10 years anniversary of Oba Kasali, who ascended the throne on 25th July, 2016.
The week-long event will also feature diverse socio-cultural, youth, educational, and memorable activities to commemorate the historic event.
Earlier, in his remarks, on behalf of the Adeboruwa-in-Council, the Odofin of Igbogbo, High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya expressed delight at the forthcoming 10th Coronation Anniversary event for the Adeboruwa.
High Chief Onasanya noted that the proposed commemorative event was historic for the community, stressing that it would be the first time a sitting royal father would be celebrating such milestone in the history of Igbogbo Kingdom.
He, however, blamed this unfortunate situation on protracted crisis among prominent individuals in the community. He therefore charged the Committee to eschew all forms of bitterness and acrimony within their ranks so that they can deliver on their assignment.
Other prominent members of the Commitee are a former Commissioner for Arts & Culture in Lagos State, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola who is the Vice Chairman, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun and his predecessor, Otunba Sesan Daini.
Members of the Adeboruwa-in-Council on the Committee are the duo of High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya and Balogun of Igbogbo, Chief Jelili Oduntan.
Others are Mr. Babatunde Afuwape who is the Committee Secretary, the Proprietor of Homat Group of Schools, Alh. Muhammed T. Hamzat, Engr. Oduntan, Engr. Kalejaiye, Dr. Nasir Temitope Andu, among others.
The Inauguration climaxed with the royal blessing of Oba Kasali on the composition of the planning Committee, signaling the formal commencement of the committee’s assignment.
This was followed by a group photograph with Oba Kasali and the Committee members.
