Relief is in view for thousands of residents of Onisigida and Kokoro Abu area of Ikorodu as Rep Babajimi Benson, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, yesterday inspected the 1.7km Onisigida-Kokoro Abu road, promising to facilitate the reconstruction of the road.
Benson inspected the road in company of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Adedayo Ladega, his Ikorodu North LCDA counterpart, Hon. Ameen Apanishile as well as the Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque, Ikorodu Sheikh Yahaya Oshoala and other APC chieftains.
While addressing some excited residents who trooped out to receive him and his team, Benson assured that the reconstruction of the road would commence within the next one month and promised to deliver the project within five months.
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Abdul-Lateef Adedayo Ladega expressed delight over the upcoming reconstruction of Kokoro Abu road, thanking Hon. Babajimi Benson for heeding his request to assist with the reconstruction of the road.
Ladega recounted that during his electioneering campaign, residents complained about the poor condition of tye road and he promised to address it.
He explained that after the election, he reached out to Rep Benson, who affirmed that the project would be done, and true to his words, the project is now set to commence within a month.
In the same vein, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, praised Benson’s development strides across in Ikorodu North LCDA and Ikorodu Division in general.
He highlighted the successful completion of the Adamo-Olorunda road among other infrastructural interventions of tye federal lawmaker in the LCDA, while expressing hope for future projects to be facilitated by the lawmaker.
Hon. Shotomiwa Wasiu, Leader of tye Ikorodu Local Government Legislative Council and Councilor Ward D, who joined Benson on the inspection tour commended Hon.Benson’s reliability, describing him as a “Mr. Talk-and-Do” who follows through on his promises.
Also, Sheikh Yahaya Oshoala lauded Hon. Babajimi Benson’s transformative impact in the area, while lauding his proactivenes in rebuilding the damaged road.
Sheikh Oshoala however appealed to residents to support the project by cooperating with the Contractors and offering assistance where necessary.
Residents of the area highlighted the poor condition of the road, which is usually flooded during rainfall, disrupting daily activities and affecting children’s access to education.
Many residents expressed enthusiasm on the upcoming road construction pledging to support the contractors 100% and comply with whatever is expected of them.
