RELIEF AS IKORODU LG CHAIRMAN, HON ADESHINA FLAGS OFF SABO MARKET ENTRANCE SURFACING, 2-SIDES DRAINAGE PROJECT FOR EASY ACCESS

The joy of the traders, market men and women at the Ayangburen Market, Sabo Ikorodu knows no bound as the indefatigable Executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina brought succour to the traders with the official flag-off of road surfacing and construction of drainages at the entrance of the large market.

Addressing the market leaders and other stakeholders at the flag-off ceremony, Adeshina refered to the Sabo market as one of Nigeria’s first five major markets, hence the need to to put it in proper shape for easy access by traders.

‘Our presence here today is to lay down yet another historic project which will be of benefit to everyone and the good people of Ikorodu at large. This council has been embarking on numerous projects that will help the general public to fulfil promises made as a sequel of my last tenure agenda’, he said.

‘The project being flagged off in the Sabo market today is just the new beginning of
provision outlined for the market people to ensure rapid development in areas of infrastructure, sanitation and good health. This construction of drainages will create channels for the free flow of floods, prevent blockages and serve as means of achieving a clean environment especially now during the rainy season’, he added.

The council boss also used the opportunity to reel out some of the developmental projects being embarked upon by his administration.

‘Some projects that we embarked upon recently include; illuminating of Itun-nla Street with 85 watts energy bulbs, Reconstruction of Itunmaja Big Culvert, Reconstruction of Obun-Oke culvert, Complete renovation of Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat to provide a more conducive environment for staffs, Surfacing of Anibaba Junction / Sholafun Street with interlocking stones, Palliative measures on Isikalu Street, Palliative measures on Etunrenren Street, Grading of Borokini Dada Street (ward A), Grading of Agbele Road (Ward F), Provision of public toilets to the pupils of Salvation Army Primary School among others.

Responding on behalf of the market men, women and traders, the Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu Division, Alh Taofikat Allison appreciated the Council boss for heeding the calls of the market stakeholders over the deplorable state of the market entrance.

She also apppealed to the Chairman to help create additional parking space within the Sabo market, stating that most vehicles presently park on the road.

Alh Animashun, Chairman E-Standby Transport Ltd also appreciated Hon Adeshina for bringing relief to the Sabo market.

Mrs Wonuola Oshonowo, APC Lagos East Women Leader equally thanked the chairman for bringing succour to Sabo market traders.

According to the Council Engineer, the rehabilitation of the road will be done with interlocking stones, with two sides drainages, measuring 37 meters x 2; 74 meters and 750mm x 750 mm width. According to her, the entire road measures 50 Meters x 8.4 m.

The council boss also expressed his joy over the peaceful co-existence in Sabo Market, despite different cultures and tribes. He further enjoins the traders to keep the environment clean at all times, preventing airborne and other transmitted diseases while simultaneously urging the market users to co-operate with the construction workers.

Hon Wasiu Shotomiwa, Councillor Ward D appreciated the Chairman on behalf of the good people of Ward D. He referred to the Chairman as a listening Chairman who listens and responds accordingly.
