2ND TERM: IKORODU LG BOSS, HON ADESHINA HOSTS THANKSGIVING AND PRAISE EVENT, SAYS WORK HAS STARTED IN EARNEST

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina has stated that, only the grace and mercy of almighty God kept him throughout his first term in office and through the challenges of his second term campaign.

Adeshina said this while addressing guests at the 2021 Praise and Thanksgiving programme tagged, ‘Let everything that have breath praise the Lord’, held at the auditorium of the Secretariat in Ikorodu on Tuesday.

The Thanksgiving event which attracted many notable political leaders and top local government staffs witnessed spirit-filled and electrifying praise renditions.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs Bolanle Adeshina, wife of the Chairman stated that the thanksgiving and praise event was aimed at showing appreciation to God for His faithfulness in the life of her husband and the entire Ikorodu local Agovernment before, during and after the last local government elections.

She added that, as part of the activities of the day, she will be giving support and empowerment to selected widows and the less privileged ones.

In his brief message tagged Benefits of Praising God, Pastor Gilbert noted that, praise and thanksgiving wades off all manner of battles.

He stressed that, a nation and individual that thanks God will enjoy special place in the heart of God and consideration from God.

Speaking further he said that, ‘when any man cultivates the habit of thanking God, such a person will see God in his life and situations’.

Reading from Psalm 79:13, the cleric stressed that, ‘so we the sheep of thy pasture will give praise to you forever, we will show the praise for ever more’.

He concluded by stating that any man who want to enjoy divine exemption must embrace the habit of praises and thanksgiving.

He noted that a major secret behind the greatness of America is the national thanksgiving day observed in the nation. ‘A nation, government and citizens that has a special national day of praise and thanksgiving will never go down’, he emphasised.

The cleric concluded his message with prophetic declarations to the local government Chairman and Ikorodu Community as a whole.

The event climaxed with the speech from the event’s host, Hon Wasiu Adeshina who expressed his gratitude with a thanksgiving song.

Adeshina also used the occassion to announce the commencement of his second term projects to the audience.

‘Let me announce to you all that, once we are done with this Thanksgiving, our major second term activities and projects will commence’.

He announced that, ‘we will start with the construction of two sided drainage system at the Ayangburen Market entrance at Sabo. This will be followed by a major palliative work at the failed portions of the Agura-Gberigbe road’, said.

‘In addition, we will be purchasing about 100 office chairs and tables for the local government staffs, to enhance their efficiency’, he added.

He concluded that his administration will also be embarking on a major empowerment programs for the youths and women before his first second term 100 days in office.

A major highpoint of the praise and thanksgiving event was the presentation of financial assistance to selected widows, aged and single mothers, courtsey of the chairman’s wife, Mrs Bolanle Adeshina. She noted that the cash gift was not an empowerment but a token of her love and a way of identifying with the challenges being faced by the women.
