The Chairman House of Reps Committee on Defence, Hon Babajimi Benson has stated that Ikorodu Division would deliver the highest votes to all APC candidates in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Hon Benson, who is the member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Reps gave the assurance to the mammoth crowd that graced his formal campaign flag-off event which took place at the spacious Ipakodo Ferry Terminal Ipakodo in Ikorodu West LCDA.
Hon Benson noted that, the massive PVC registration among residents of Ikorodu cannot be under-estimated. Ikorodu is the 3rd largest city in the South West and this will reflect in our votes during the coming elections’, he boasted.
Speaking further, Hon Benson said that, ‘Ikorodu is not just called Ikorodu Oga for nothing, everywhere we go, we always excel and come tops. We will demonstrate this once again with our votes’, he assured.
Hon Benson was reacting to an open challenge by Hon. , his Deputy Chairman in the House of Reps Committee on Defence and a federal lawmaker from Jigawa State who boasted that Jigawa would beat Lagos State to deliver the highest votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming elections.
He also solicited support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President, Governor Sanwo-Olu for Governor and Senator Adetokunbo Abiru for Senate and other candidates of the party in the 2023 elections.
Hon Benson was presented with the party’s flag to run for the third term by Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, DG Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat Campaign and supported by top APC chieftains within and outside Ikorodu.
A major highpoint of the event was the formal presentation of APC House of Assembly candidates in Ikorodu Constituency 1 and 2, namely Hon Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo (OGA) and Hon Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA)
The campaign flag-off ceremony was graced by top APC chieftains, past and serving political office holders across Ikorodu Division and Lagos State.
Chief among them were the Director-General of the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat re-election campaign and a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Lagos East APC Vice Chairman, Hon (Mrs) Olayinka Oladunjoye, Secretary of the Lagos State Campaign, Mr Fuad Oki and Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Lagos State, Hon Sunmi Odesanya.
Also at the event were chieftains of the Lagos GAC, former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Former Senator and Minster for Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe and former Secretary to Lagos State Government, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun.
Others were a former two-term Commissioner for Agric in the state, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, retired Permanent Secretary and Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru among other top APC leaders.
All local government Chairmen in Ikorodu Division were fully on ground to support Hon Benson’s re-election campaign.
King of Fuji Music and Maiyegun of Yoruba Land, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal was on band stand, dishing out sonorous tunes that intermittently spiced up the carnival -like campaign flag-off.
