2019: ABIKE DABIRI-EREWA EMPOWERS 100 WOMEN, SAYS BUHARI HAS INTRODUCED THE BIGGEST SOCIAL INTERVENTION PROGRAMME IN NIGERIA’S HISTORY

An aide of Nigeria’s president and CEO, Nigerian Diasporan Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa has stated that the APC led government under President Muhammed Buhari has introduced the biggest social intervention programmes in the history of the country.

Dabiri-Erewa stated this while addressing party supporters at the disbursement of micro-enterprise enhancement loans to 100 widows and indigent women across Ikorodu division who benefitted from the Nigerian Directorate of Employment NDE’s  financial empowerment, facilitated by the Ikorodu born former federal lawmaker.

Dabiri also pledged to train 200 women in various vocations and skills, shortly after the elections, in order to enhance their economic lives.

The event also featured the inauguration of Ikorodu APC Canvassers, a group of three (3) party members drawn from Ikorodu division’s 30 wards, to canvass for votes for President Muhammed Buhari and Prof Yemi Oshinbajo in the forthcoming presidential election in the country.

She stated that President Buhari, through the social intervention programmes has demonstrated his concern for the poor and vulnerable Nigerians through the launch of N-Power, Trader Moni, school feeding programmes among other people-centered initiatives as basis for the re-election of the president.

Addressing members of the group, Dabiri-Erewa stated the main job if the group was to propagate the achievements of the Buhari administration to the nooks and cranny of Ikorodu division.

‘You are going door-to-door, house to house to convince Nigerians on the need to vote back President Muhammed Buhari to enable him consolidate on his achievements and ideals to Nigerians’..

She added that, ‘for the first time, the country is witnessing revival of rail transport services across Nigeria, with pilot schemes on Lagos-Ibadan, Lagos-Abeokuta routes. She noted that these projects were initiated decades ago but was abandoned by successive governments.

Coordinator of the APC canvassers, Hon Saheed Ibikunle charged the canvassers from Ikorodu’ s 30 wards to ensure landslide victory for all APC candidates at the forthcoming elections. Ibikunle further charged them to encourage residents to vote all APC candidates.  He also admonished them to discourage residents from voting candidates from different political parties, noting that the wider the margin with which Ikorodu divisions wins in the elections, the better for the division in terms of negotiating for better deals from government.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Simiat Adesola thanked Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa for the financial gestures. Similarly, CDC chairman, Ikorodu local government, Alh Shonibare commended the APC government, with the assurance that all CDAs will deliver landslide for the APC candidates.

An APC leader in the community, Alh Folorunsho admonished residents to vote en-masse for all APC candidates at the elections, while admonishing the canvassers to educate the electorates on the proper way to vote and how to ensure their votes count.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Chairman,  Ikorodu local government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina commended Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa for her contributions towards the development of Ikorodu local government. He also charged the canvassers to make sure they convince residents to vote massively for all APC candidates during the forthcoming general elections.
