SURPRISE AS IKORODU FEDERAL LEGISLATOR, HON BENSON FLAGS OFF REHABILITATION OF 11 INNER ROADS WITH STREET LIGHTS, DRAINAGE

Surprise, is the best word to describe the shock and excitement on the faces of many residents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency when the federal lawmaker, representing Ikorodu at the House of Reps, Hon Jimi Benson announced the flag-off of 11 inner roads across two local governments in the constituency.

Benson made the disclosure to the admiration of political leaders, community representatives, media men and some residents at the formal flag-off ceremony of the rehabilitation of the 11 roads on Saturday, 27th February at Agbala area of Ikorodu North LCDA.

The roads are Oshin Ladega street, Agbala, Amudat Jokomba street, Olokunola street, Oladunjoye oriola street ( Better Food).
Linking Eyita Ikorodu Central, Oguntuga street, Igbeyin Adun street, Olaore oshikoya street, Ayodele Ayeni street, Giwa Efugbotu, Adeyiga street (Benson Estate, linking munirat Aleje to Benson Bus Stop.

What is interesting about this road is that, Him Benson will be connecting commuters from Agbala in Sagamu road to Benson Bus Stop along Lagos Road, thereby easing the traffic on the Sagamu road through the link road from Agbala all through to Oguntuga Street directly to Abudu Benson street, off Lagos Road.

Declaring the formal commencement of work open on the road, Benson stressed that work will be starting on the roads immediately and that the roads will be delivered in a record time of four (4) months. A position that was further corroborated by Engr Muhammed Odaki who spoke on behalf of the Construction firm handling the roads projects, DRB Construction.

Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairmen of Ikorodu Central and North LCDA, Hon Wasiu Adeshina and Hon Adeola Banjo, in their separate remarks commended Hon Benson for bringing succour to residents of communities within and around the 11 road projects, through the facilitatation of the project to the area.

Similarly, some community representatives present at the ceremony also commended Hon Benson for his commitment to the delivery of good and quality representation to the people of Ikorodu federal Constituency. To express their joy, a plaque of honour was presented to Hon Benson as a way of showing appreciation for his good works.

Earlier in his address, a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Committee, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye showered encomiums and praises on the Ikorodu federal lawmaker for being a great performer and prayed that he will finish well and strong.

In his brief remark, Chairman of Oriwu Club, Engr Amid Oduborisha spoke glowingly of Hon Benson. He noted that he attended the ceremony not as an APC member but, as Oriwu Club President, whose club house is located around the road projects, stressing that the roads would further help to improve the lives of residents, while driving patronage to the Club House and its facilities. He added that he attended the event on the other hand as a great admirer of Hon Benson, whose late father he said was a senior member of the prestigious Oriwu Club and that, as younger members, he looked up to Hon Jimi Benson’s father who equally was open to him and others.

‘I am here to support Him Jimi Benson who has been a rallying point for us in Ikorodu. If you love your community and want her progress, you will identify someone who is doing that’, he said.

Speaking on the inspiration behind his drive and passion for quality representation and attracting of developmental projects to Ikorodu constituency, Hon Benson stated that his caring disposition and desire to leave a worthy legacy was his secret.

‘Like you know, my slogan is I- Care and I truly do. The ‘I’ stands for the first letter in the name of all our major towns and LCDAs and I have demonstrated that I truly care by facilitating life enhancing projects to them. My second motivation is the desire to leave a good name and legacy when I am no more. I want to be remembered as someone who brought joy and succour to my people’, he concluded.

Our Correspondent took a walk round some of the roads and true to Hon Benson’s promise, digging of drainages have begun in earnest.
