SCHOOL RESUMPTION: NAPPS LAGOS SET UP COVID-19 QUALITY ASSURANCE COMMITTEE, ASSURE PARENTS OF SAFE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Ahead of school resumption in Lagos State, and to ensure strict compliance of private schools to the Covid-19 Health Protocols as stipulated by the Lagos State Government, the umbrella body of private schools in the state, under the aegis of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Lagos Chapter has set up a quality assurance committee.

This revelation was made by the President of NAPPS, Lagos Chapter, Alh. M.T Olawale Hamzat in an exclusive chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio on the level of preparedness of private schools in the State for tomorrow’s school resumption.

Hamzat, who also doubles as the Director, Homat Group of Schools disclosed that the association’s member-schools were fully prepared to ensure a safe school environment towards the new resumption date.

‘The new resumption date is a welcome development because, we have been expecting this for a long time having lockdown for six months. It is what we have been expecting and as God wanted it to be. The SS3 students have resumed few weeks ago and glory be to God, that there was no challenge. So far, none of our school was found wanted. So, we had already sensitized our parents and teachers. This period, we have already had training with our members on Covid-19 preventive measures. We have made it very clear that they must get their schools sanitized and ensure that physical distancing is maintained in the school compound and every other necessary things’.

‘Before any school is approved for resumption, one of the condition is that the school must have a sick-bay, the sick-bay must be clean and must be well manned by a qualified nurse. To ensure that our members comply we have equally set up a committee called the NAPPS Lagos Quality Assurance Committee and this was replicated in all the local government chapters. They have the mandate to go round all member-schools to make sure they comply with the State government directives’, he added.

While praying for God’s protection upon parents and students, Mr Hamzat further assured parents of a safe private school environment for all students in the State.

‘To our dear parents, we cherish and appreciate them for the interest they have in private schools and we promise them total quality educational services and by the special grace of God, their children are in safe hands’.

‘Being a noble association, we know that we are dealing with the lives of leaders of tomorrow, so it is very important that we maintain a safe atmosphere in all our schools’, Hamzat concluded.
