Despite the assurances from the Lagos State Government to the people of the state on the availability of Lake Rice for the Yuletide season across the state, there is still no sign of availability of the product in the designated Fish Farm Estate centre in Ikorodu, more than 24 hours after the product has gone up for in other areas of the State.
On visiting fish farm estate, Odonguyan Ikorodu; the designated place for the sale of the Product, Ikorodu Oga Radio reporter observed lack of organisation and compromise in the process of distributing the rice, contrary to the directives of the State government. They also added that the product has not been sold to anyone yet in Ikorodu.
Our reporter also witnessed inhuman and untold hardships residents of Ikorodu Division are exposed to, in their bid to patronise the Lagos state rice. A prospective buyer who pleaded anonymity lamented that despite having paid to the designated bank account, he and many others were yet to be given their bags of rice.
While many are hoping against hope that those saddled with the distribution of the product would do the needful, on time, many also expressed fears that the much-publicized rice may have been hijacked by some opportunists.
Some commentators on social media platforms have also blamed the Lagos state government for giving a division like Ikorodu Division, a community of over two million residents just a selling point for the rice.
