SENATOR TOKUNBO ABIRU TO SYNERGISE WITH IKODASS TOWARDS IKORODU DEVELOPMENT

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Tokunbo Abiru has pledged his willingness to partner with Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), an umbrella body of all social clubs and associations across Ikorodu Community.

Senator Abiru made the pledge in his remarks when he received some representative of the apex community association who paid him a courtesy visit his Constituency office in Ikorodu on Saturday.

Leading the delegation was the Chairman of the organization, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo. Other executive members on the delegation were the Deputy Chairman, Alh. Adeyeri Ajibade, General Secretary, Mr Arun Elesho, Internal Auditor, Mr Borokini Hammed, Asst Social Secretary, Mr Musbau Alejo and Mrs Oyenuga Opeyemi, Market Men / Women Reps.

Responding to the request for strategic partnership between IKODASS and the office of the Ikorodu-born Senator, Abiru remarked that, ‘I have had the privilege of participating in some IKODASS events in the past, particularly at the grand-finale of one of the Ikorodu Oga Day celebrations, during the reign of Oba Salaudeen Afolabi Oyefusi. I was then serving as the Commissioner for Finance in the State’, he said.

Abiru also seized the opportunity to intimate his guests on his efforts and activities at the Senate, to ensure major road infrastructures in the community currently in dilapidated States are rehabilitated.

Abiru also commended past leaders of IKODASS for their relentless services to the community. He particularly acknowledged the contribution of the immediate past IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru for his contributions to IKODASS and, by extension Ikorodu Community.

Earlier, the IKODASS Chairman, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo congratulated Senator Abiru for his electoral success and wished him a successful tenure in office.

Erogbogbo equally informed the Senator of some of the body’s activities since his administration assumed office. He noted that his executive came into office with the mantra, ‘Changing the Narratives’, and extended a hand of fellowship to the Senator for the actualisation of the vision of his executive.

‘The news coming out of Ikorodu has been more of negative news. Meanwhile, compared to other parts of the States, worse crimes are being perpetrated in other parts of the state are worse than what is happening in Ikorodu. This is the reason why we are working hard, by initiatiing programmes, to ensure positive news are pushed out of Ikorodu’.

The climax of the courtesy visit was the presentation of the IKODASS Two (2) Year (2021-2023) Executive Vision booklet to the Senator.
