Residents of Ikorodu turned out in large numbers yesterday, March 21, 2026, as fun-seekers, comprising of children, youths and families gathered for a vibrant Eid hangout that combined celebration, social connection, and a message of responsible living.
The event, organised in partnership with corporate bodies and several small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), created a lively atmosphere filled with music, interactions, and recreational activities, offering attendees an opportunity to unwind after the Ramadan fasting period.
Speaking with Ikorodu Oga Radio & TV during the event, one of the organisers, Mr. Waliu Adeyeri, explained that the initiative was born out of the need to provide a more structured and value-driven form of entertainment for Muslim youths in the community.
According to him, many young people often engage in activities that contradict their faith while trying to have fun, especially during festive periods.
“People get involved in acts that are forbidden by Allah in the name of trying to entertain themselves. To avoid that, we came up with this event,” he said.
He further emphasised that the hangout promotes a new culture of celebration that aligns enjoyment with moral consciousness.
“Vibing without sin is the new way to go,” Adeyeri added.
Beyond its social impact, the organiser also highlighted the economic relevance of the event, noting that it serves as a platform for supporting local businesses within Ikorodu.
“This event has been helping SMEs. Anytime we organise it, their sales increase,” he stated, adding that the 2026 gathering marks the third edition of the initiative.
Attendees at the event also shared positive feedback, describing the hangout as both enjoyable and meaningful. Mrs. Nafisat Rasaq noted that Ikorodu, being a large and vibrant town, benefits greatly from initiatives that bring people together in a structured and positive environment.
Similarly, Mr. Abubakar Alabi expressed his support for the concept, stating that the idea of celebrating in a way that aligns with moral values is a welcome development.
The event maintained a balance between entertainment and discipline, as participants were seen engaging freely while still embracing the core message behind the gathering.
Observers say the strong turnout and level of engagement reflect a growing demand for youth-focused events in Ikorodu that go beyond entertainment to include faoth, identity, and community development.
As the Ikorodu Eid Hangout 3.0 came to a close, it left behind not just memories of fun and excitement, but also a clear message – that celebration and responsibility can coexist within the community.
