LAGOS AT 50 CELEBRATION: EBUTE-IGA TO HOST BOAT REGATTA

Following strong condemnation and criticisms that trailed the release of the 50-Day Lagos at 50 Commemorative event from Ikorodu Division stakeholders, the cries and protests from the division seems to have paid off as organisers of the event have included Ebute-Iga and Ijede as host communities from the division to host the boat regatta.

In a message titled, Beyond Boat Regatta in Ikorodu Division and signed by Hon SOB Agunbiade, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, the Ikorodu born lawmaker commended concerned Ikorodu division stakeholders for their agitation against the perceived marginalisation.

The statement reads in part ‘with the collective efforts of our representatives in the executive and legislature, Ikorodu Division will host a segment of the boat regatta for the anniversary of Lagos at 50 and our man, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives is in charge’

Hon SOB Agunbiade in the statement advised the custodians of the boat regatta display in Ijede and Ebute Iga communities of the division to link up with Hon Ogunleye for inquiries and necessary information.

He further revealed that the Lagos state government has given approval for the construction of a new local government secretariat for Ikorodu local government, as well as a Government chalet to be built in a lagoon front site in the division.

The news has elicited commendations among Ikorodu division stakeholders who were involving in the agitation, praising Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for listening to their pleas.
