The general mood across Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Ikorodu Constituency 2 and particularly Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA is currently frenzy.
This is due to the fact that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Works have listed the rehabilitation of the 13kilometer Offin-Oreta Road as part of the road projects captured in the 2023 supplementary budget.
The federal government intervention is coming, courtesy of the dynamic legislative tenacity of Rep Babajimi Benson, Member, Representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
Benson, who is also the Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defense recently hinted on the FGs intervention when he was responding to Ikorodu Oga Radio correspondent’s question on his efforts at prevailing on the Lagos State Government to carry out rehabilitation of the several deplorable roads across the Division.
This revelation was made on recently by Rep Babajimi, Chairman House of Reps Committee on Defence when answering questions from Ikorodu Oga Radio on the sideline of the October food distribution for the vulnerable members of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The monthly free food distribution was held in commemoration of the 2023 World Food Day.
Rep Benson said, ‘You know you call me Julius Berger, in the next few weeks, you are going to hear some heart-shaking commencement of road project that you can’t believe will ever happen. It is a very big one, but for now, it is in my pocket. Watch out for it’.
The amiable federal lawmaker, popularly called Mr Talk-and-Do has finally made good his promise to the good people of Ikorodu Division.
In an exclusive phone conversation with Ikorodu Oga Radio on Tuesday morning, Benson thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his intervention on the road project.
‘I want to express my appreciations to my Daddy and political leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for accepting to include the Offin-Oreta Road in the 2023 Supplementary Budget after I suggested it to him’.
‘Also, I want to apologize to residents and stakeholders of the several communities along the axis for all the stress they have gone through over the years. I personally sympathize and empathize with them’, he stated.
JB as popularly called also used the opportunity to assure residents of other communities whose roads are in terrible state that it would soon be their turn’
‘I also want to assure our people whose roads are in bad shape to exercise patience with us. It will soon be their turn’, he promised.
