As the race for who occupies the number one political office in Ikorodu local government gathers momentum, one of the main contenders and a leading female chairmanship aspirant, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba has debunked rumours making the rounds that she has stepped down her aspiration for a particular candidate.
Hon Olabanji-Oba made this clarification while responding to question from one of the party delegates, who was also a guest at a political discourse and fund raising luncheon tagged, The Ikorodu Project organized by the candidate to interact with stakeholders and also sell her programmes to party delegates.
Responding, Olabanji-Oba said, I’m still very much in the race; I have never and will not step down for any candidate. Let us all go to the field and sell our candidature to the party and let the party decide who represents them at the forthcoming local government elections’.
Meanwhile, Hon Olabanji-Oba has promised to improve on the revenue base of the local government by re-positioning it from being a mono revenue local government by boosting its internally generated revenue. This, she said she would do by diversifying the revenue source of the local government.

In her speech tagged, My Passion for The Ikorodu Project, Hon Oba said, ‘My team has carefully tagged this discourse, The Ikorodu Project for obvious reasons. Until you and I, indeed all of us take Ikorodu as our personal and collective project, our dream Ikorodu and its ‘prophetic’ potential of becoming a ‘headquarter’ may as well remain a mere thought in our minds.
If Ikorodu is a project, it then means that you and I must form a formidable team of passionate, optimistic and committed partners to make the dream of our heroes’ past become reality.
Also speaking at the event, Hon Owolabi Anifowoshe, a former house of reps aspirant pleaded with party delegates to cast their votes with the fear of God. He further implored them to give their support to Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, being the most qualified and passionate aspirant, with the best programme for Ikorodu local government.
