Respite has come to residents and road users along Ijede, Elepe and Omitoro area of Ikorodu local government area of the state. This statement was made by the executive chairman of Ikorodu local government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina yesterday in Ikorodu.
Adeshina made the statement in his remarks at the Ikorodu Constituency 1 Town Hall meeting hosted by the Lagos State house of Assembly’s majority leader, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu Campus.
Hon Adeshina disclosed that his administration will carry out a palliative measure on the bad spots on the road, as instructed hy the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode who, according to the chairman, was displeased by the state of the road, when he passed through the road recently.
‘The state of the Ijede-Omitoro road is so bad, I personally visited the road and we have decided to carry out an immediate palliative measure on the road. We are going to do this once the rains subsides. The rain is the reason we have been slowing down on repairing the road. If we do anything on the road now, it will amount to waste of resources as the rains will wash everything away’.
Meanwhile, Hon. Adeshina also used the opportunity to appeal to Mebers of transport unions in the local government to desist from the act of urinating on the roads, beside their buses. He stressed that, this is partly responsible for the damages on the road since urines contain harmful chemicals that destroys the road.
