…Cite exceptional Legislative Performance, Strategic National Influence, and Unprecedented Constituency Development

At a historic convergence of leadership and collective purpose, the Executive Chairmen of all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas within Ikorodu Division convened on Thursday 16th of April, 2026 to deliberate on the political trajectory of our Division and to articulate a unified position regarding the representation of our Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

Following extensive consultations with party stakeholders, traditional rulers, youth organizations, women groups, market associations, and the general populace across all wards and communities, we, the undersigned Executive Chairmen, hereby issue this joint declaration to formally communicate our collective resolve and unwavering support for the continued representation of our Constituency by Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member, House of Representatives (MHR).

Ikorodu Division, comprising Ikorodu Local Government and five (5) Local Council Development Areas, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Igbogbo/Bayeku, Ijede, and Imota, has witnessed remarkable transformation under the current democratic dispensation.

As the closest representatives of government to the people, we have observed firsthand the critical importance of effective federal representation in accelerating local development and securing national attention for our Division’s priorities.

The political history of Ikorodu Division has been characterized by periods of both progress and challenges. However, the current era has demonstrated that strategic alignment between federal representation and grassroots governance yields exponential benefits for our communities. This realization has informed our decision to consolidate existing gains rather than embark on uncertain political experiments that could derail ongoing development initiatives.

Our collective endorsement of Hon. Babajimi Benson is predicated on the following verifiable achievements and leadership qualities:

1. LEGISLATIVE EXCELLENCE AND NATIONAL INFLUENCE
Hon. Benson has distinguished himself as a ranking member of the House of Representatives, serving with distinction on critical committees that directly impact our constituency’s interests. His legislative interventions have addressed infrastructure deficits, educational advancement, healthcare delivery, youth empowerment, and economic development. His voice in the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly has consistently amplified the concerns of Ikorodu Division, ensuring that our priorities receive appropriate national attention and resource allocation.
2. CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS AND TANGIBLE DEVELOPMENT
Through strategic utilization of constituency development funds and effective lobbying, Hon. Benson has facilitated the execution of numerous projects across our Division. These interventions span road rehabilitation and construction, provision of classroom blocks and educational materials, healthcare facility upgrades, empowerment programs for women and youth, and support for small and medium enterprises. These projects have touched every corner of our Division and improved the quality of life for thousands of constituents.
3. CONSTITUENT ENGAGEMENT AND ACCESSIBILITY
Effective representation requires constant interface with the represented. Hon. Benson has maintained an open-door policy, regularly engaging with community leaders, attending town hall meetings, and responding to individual and collective requests from constituents. His constituency office operates with efficiency and responsiveness, ensuring that the gap between the governed and government is bridged consistently.
4. PARTY LOYALTY AND POLITICAL STABILITY
As dedicated members of our great party, we recognize the importance of rewarding loyalty, commitment, and performance. Hon. Benson has demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the party’s ideals, supported the party’s programs at all levels, and contributed to political stability within Ikorodu Division. His alignment with the progressive agenda of our party and his collaborative relationship with state and local government officials have created synergy that benefits our people.
5. STRATEGIC VISION AND CONTINUITY
Development is a continuum that requires sustained focus and long-term planning. The ongoing projects and initiatives championed by Hon. Benson require continuity to reach full fruition. Disrupting this trajectory through a change in representation would not only jeopardize ongoing projects but would also necessitate a period of adjustment that our Division cannot afford at this critical juncture.
