I WILL LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE, GBOLAHAN OGUNLEYE PLEDGES, RECEIVES INEC CERTIFICATE OF RETURN

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, in the just concluded State Assembly elections and Ikorodu Constituencies 1 Assembly Member-Elect, Hon Gbolahan Ogunleye has pledged to listen to the voices of the people in carrying out his responsibilities as Member, Representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Ogunleye gave the pledge on Sunday, shortly after he was declared winner of the House of Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ikorodu Constituency 1 Returning Officer, Professor Bassey Ubana on Sunday, 18th March 2023.

Ogunleye polled a total of 37,341 votes, to beat his closest rival and Labour Party candidate Osho Semiu who polled 8,195 votes, while PDP’s Lawal Olamide Olalekan, scored 2,886 to come a distant third.

Ogunleye also known as OGA made the statement in response to his official declaration as winner of the election.

The statement reads in part, ‘After several months of relentless efforts in pursuing the goal of changing the face of legislative representation for Ikorodu Constituency 1 at the hallowed chambers of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC moments ago just declared me the winner of the March 18th 2023 election’, he said.

‘I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I write this message to thank every one of you for your unwavering support and trust in me during the just concluded election. Your votes have given me the privilege to serve as your representative in the coming years, and I promise to do my utmost best to make good on our campaign promise of a greater Ikorodu’, he promised.

Speaking further, he said, ‘I am humbled by the confidence you have placed in me to lead this great constituency, and I assure you that I will not take this responsibility lightly. Throughout my campaign, I have witnessed firsthand the struggles and challenges that you face daily, and I vow to work tirelessly to ensure that these issues are addressed with utmost urgency’.

‘The #PromiseForAGreaterIkorodu campaign was not just a slogan, but a promise to make life better for all of us. It is a promise to provide better advocacy for infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job opportunities for our youth. It is a promise to ensure that everyone, regardless of their social status, is given an equal chance to succeed’, he added.

‘I want to use this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who believed in this promise and gave me their mandate to represent them. Your trust in me is a motivation to work harder and to do more for our beloved community. I promise to be a representative who listens to the voices of the people and takes their concerns seriously’, .

‘To other candidates in the contest, I want to extend a heartfelt invitation to every one of you to join me in building a greater Ikorodu Constituency 1. Though we may have had our differences during the campaign, we all share a common goal – the progress and development of our beloved community’, he concluded.

He also stated that, ss the newly elected representative, he will be committed to working with everyone, regardless of their political affiliations, to achieve the shared vision of a greater Ikorodu. He expressed strong believe that it is only through unity and collaboration that can bring about real change and make a lasting impact on the lives of the good people of Ikorodu Constituency 1.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Ikorodu, GAC members, DG of the entire campaign, APC Apex Leaders, political appointees, party officials, and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a successful campaign.
