The Caring Federal Legislator and Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defense, Rep Babajimi Benson has brought succour to about two thousand households across Ikorodu Division through the distribution of solar-powered home systems, comprising of standing fan, transistor radio, light bulbs and charging point to beneficiaries.
Speaking to Ikorodu Oga Radio at the event, Benson stated that, ‘The essence of this prgramme is to show that the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu loves Ikorodu Federal Constituency. The votes that these constituents gave the present administration was phenomenal and they have to enjoy the dividend of democracy, by putting smiles on their faces’.
He noted that the empowerment was an on-going series of empowerment initiative targeted at APC party members and members of the general public.
According to Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Director-General I-Care Foundation, the distribution of the items was done in response to the current heat waves being experienced by Nigerians and particularly residents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Benson also spoke on the significance of the home solar systems to the general well-being and economic upliftment of the beneficiaries.
‘When there is light there is security, the younger ones can do their homeworks and commerce will continue to thrive because business people can now get their phones charged’, he noted.
Reacting to the empowerment initiative, a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and Ikorodu Division APC Apex Leader, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye has commended Benson for embarking on the exercise.
The APC chieftain described Rep Benson as a caring representative and a beacon of hope for the entire Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Similarly, Member Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo also thanked Rep Benson for providing dynamic leadership for the good people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Meanwhile, scores of beneficiaries of the empowerment programme across different wards in Ikorodu Division have expressed appreciations to Benson for identifying with the need of the downtrodden in his Constituency.
While about 500 systems were distributed to party faithfuls today, we gathered that 1,500 other members of the general public would benefit from the next distribution exercise which would be done by nominations.
