An Ikorodu-based community development association, Covenant Phase 1 Community Development Association (CDA) from Ikorodu North has emerged as the Best CDA in Lagos State Y2017 at this year’s Lagos State Community Day celebration held at the Adeyemi Bero auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.
The CDA won the award for the construction of a Healthcare centre with bore hole and also constructing five drainages within the community in the ougoing year. Similar feat was achieved by Agodo-Alara CDA from the same Ikorodu North area of Ikorodu division in 2015.
The annual community day celebration is an initiative of the Lagos state government, aimed at encouraging community and grassroots participation in the governance of the state. This is in tandem with the promise of Gov Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration to run an all-inclusive government, with CDAs as development partners.
To reward the contribution of the community association in the development of the state, the Lagos state government, through the ministry of Local government and community affairs presented the CDA with a brand new 12-seater bus.
Congratulating members of the CDA for the well-deserved award, Hon Babajimi Benson, member representing Ikorodu federal constituency at the house of representatives commended the CDA for the feat.
‘The award reinforces my belief that development is a collective effort and we can all contribute to the development of our community’, he said.
