Surprise, shock, and amazement were the right words to describe the expressions on the faces of the almost one thousand Ikorodu federal constituents who attended the October edition of the iCare free Food Bank distribution exercise, sponsored by Rep. Babajimi Benson, Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Reps.
While the distribution exercise was special, being the 9th commemorative edition of the monthly food distribution, it also coincided with the annual World Food Day event.
Beyond the free food distribution, Benson shocked the beneficiaries when he announced free employment opportunities for five (5) university graduates from vulnerable constituents.

While some unemployed youths in the audience were among the lucky beneficiaries of the instant employment opportunity, some parents equally stood in and received the slots on behalf of their children.
The entire crowd of constituents erupted into uncontrolled ecstasy and joy soon as the federal lawmaker made this announcement.
Benson further assured the beneficiaries that they would receive their employment letters and resume their new job roles on or before the end of November.

Speaking on the reason behind the job offers, Benson stated that he had mixed feelings, seeing the mammoth crowd of vulnerable constituents who turned up for the food distribution exercise.
Moved with compassion, Benson stated that he believes that the employment offers will help alleviate the financial situations of the lucky beneficiaries and their immediate families.

Thousands of vulnerable residents, comprising of the aged, widowed and widowers, unemployed youths as well as many people living with disabilities were among those who benefitted from the October edition of the iCare Food Bank support.
Earlier, in his remarks, Director-General of the iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola noted that the management of the Food Bank has decided to review the nomination process to allow for direct selection of beneficiaries from the streets and neighbourhoods.

This, according to him, is aimed at ensuring that only deserving beneficiaries get the nomination cards.
