IKORODU DIVISION COUNCIL CHAIRMEN SIGNS HISTORIC LJTF SECURITY BYE-LAW TO STRENGTHENS LOCAL SECURITY ARCHITECTURE

All the six (6) Ikorodu Division Council Chairmen made history yesterday with the signing of the Local Joint Task Force (LJTF) Bye-law into Law.

By jointly assenting to the new law which was proposed by the Council Chairmen to their respective legislative chambers since 2023, it is expected that the security architecture of the Ikorodu Division will witness a further boost.

The historic assent which took place yesterday, 27th June, 2025, at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat is coming only 15 days to the 2025, Local Government Elections.

According to Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, Chairman Ikorodu Local Government, in his brief remarks at the event, the decision to sign this Bye-Law was collectively reached by the Division’s six chairmen, comprising, Bldr. Adeola Adebisi, Chairman Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewanju, Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Bldr. Olusesan Daini, Chairman Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Prince Wasiu Kunle Agoro, Chairman, Imota LCDA and Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Gbadebo, Chairman Ijede LCDA with a view to further compliment the security architecture of the entire Division.

Adeshina further reiterated that the local government has been saddled with the responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of its citizens and the need for peace and unity to foster security, defending the applaudable Bye-law signed today.

He said, ‘Ikorodu is not just a mega city but the third largest one in the whole of South-West Nigeria, has again proved its mettle among comity of other Divisions in the areas of local Security’.

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr. Sesan Daini also spoke on the significance of the new bye-law.

“What we have done today is that we have signed a bye-law that would bring together all government and independent security apparatus, so that they can work together.”, Bldr. Sedan Daini said.

In a chat with our correspondence, Ikorodu LG boss, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina explained that, ‘the result we see today, through the LJTF bye-law is the child of a critical brainstorming session held a couple of years ago, between the Legislature and the Executive, when the Badoo incident was ravaging parts of the Division’.

The Council boss expressed excitement and fulfilment that the child conceived years ago has finally been born.

Addressing concerns and speculations of indigenes and residents alike, regarding the welfare of the newly recruited Local Joint Task Force operatives, the Council Chairmen assured that the welfare of the operatives had been duly taken care of.

A major highlight of the signing of the bye-law was the unveiling of patrol vans for the respective LCDAs in the Division, underscoring the commitment of the Chairmen to the security of the residents of their respective Council areas.

Suffice it to say then, that Ikorodu Division indigenes and residents can now of a certainty truly sleep with their two eyes closed.
