15 YEAR OLD SUNMISOLA AGBEBI WINS MAIDEN EDITION OF IKORODU OGA RADIO & TV’S MUSIC CHALLENGE

15-year-old, Sunmisola Agbebi has emerged winner of the maiden edition of ‘You Think You Can Sing’ Music Challenge, a talent hunt show organized by Ikorodu Oga Radio & TV, a vibrant online community media outfit based in Ikorodu.

Miss Agbebi emerged winner of the keenly contested music talent show with 85 points among six finalists who performed to a large crowd of parents, supporters and well wishers at the grand finale of the music challenge on 28th December, 2017 at Origin Garden and Zoo, Ebute, Ikorodu.

The music challenge, according to Omo’ba ’Peju Akinyemi, Founder / CEO, Ikorodu Oga Radio was part of the community media’s corporate social responsibility initiative.

‘We strongly believe that, as a responsible community media organisation, we must take responsibility for the discovery, grooming and promotion of raw music talents within our immediate environment- Ikorodu. This is with a view to making Ikorodu become the home of talents, the same way Ajegunle-Apapa was home to several music and sports talents in the late 80s and early 90s’.

He further disclosed that, the music challenge was also meant to assist young children and teenagers between the ages of ten and sixteen years to discover their talent while helping them to manage it without clashing with their academic pursuits.

Omo’ba Akinyemi further disclosed that the grand finale of the challenge was strategically fixed for the last lap of the year, in order to avail the children who have been busy with academics from January an opportunity to unwind and have fun, outside of core academics.

Also speaking at the event, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru, Chairman, Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) in his speech as the Chairman of the occasion commended the management of Ikorodu Oga Radio & TV for embarking on the laudable project. He also charged parents to be sensitive to their children’s talents so as to help them manage and develop it.

To support the initiative, Otunba Abiru announced the donation of One Hundred Thousand Naira Only to support the laudable initiative.

While Miss Agbebi carts home the competition’s N50,000 star prize and a tablet, 11 year old Daniel James emerged first runners up with 84 points, while 15 years old Tunmise Johnson emerged second runners up.

Other finalists include Oyinkansola Taiwo, Isaac Peju-Akinyemi and Opeyemi Ademoye who came fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. They also got cash prizes of N10,000, N7,500 and N5,000 as consolation prizes.
