LAHA IKORODU CONSTITUENCY 1: I DON’T HAVE AN ANOINTED CANDIDATE, BENSON DEBUNKS ENDORSEMENT CLAIM

The Chairman, House Committee on Defense, Rep Babajimi Benson has debunked widespread rumours, making the rounds in some quarters that he has anointed a particular candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency 1 seat, aheadof the forthcoming APC primaries in May.

Benson made the clarification in a press statement, personally signed by him, advising party leaders and members to disregard the endorsement claim.

‘For the record, any claim or insinuation suggesting that I have endorsed a particular candidate in Ikorodu Constituency 1 is completely false and should be disregarded’.

Benson noted that, ‘As a responsible party man, I remain committed to the unity and internal democracy of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’.

‘To the best of my understanding, the selection of candidates shall be through direct primaries or by Consensus where possible to which I myself shall be subject to’, he added.

Benson however promised to support any candidate the party presents at the party’s forthcoming primaries.

‘At the appropriate time, when the party has concluded its nomination process and a candidate emerges, I will fully SUPPORT and work with whoever is duly chosen’, Benson concluded.
