Hundreds of market men and women in Ikorodu North LCDA are set to benefit from the N5 Million Naira interest-free loan, courtesy of the Member, representing Ikorodu Constituency 1 in the House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye.
The fund is the second tranch in the series of interest-free loans sponsored by the state lawmaker for the benefit of market men and women in Ikorodu Constituency 1. This is with a view to bridge the gap created by the inability of the traders to access loans from regular commercial banks.
Thursday’s disbursement was a fulfillment of Ogunleye’s earlier promise to boost the informal sector by supporting the traders.
This was based on the request by the Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu Division, Dcns Busola Isikalu’s earlier request for the lawmaker to support her members.
The Director-General of the Oga Campaign Group, Hon. Kehinde Ayanbadejo, who represented Ogunleye at the presentation, stated that the disbursement was a demonstration of the lawmaker’s commitment to his constituents, promising that more dividends of democracy were underway.
Responding on behalf of the Ikorodu Division market men and women, Iyaloja-General Isikalu thanked Hon. Ogunleye for living up to his words, describing him as a lover of the downtrodden.
Similarly, the Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mrs Tugbobo Kudirat, expressed gratitude to the Ikorodu lawmaker for the financial support.
She also assured him that her members would make judicious use of the funds.
The event was witnessed by the duo of Chairman of the APC in Ikorodu Division and Ikorodu Central APC Chairman, respectively, Hon. T.J Olasunkanmi and Hon. Waheed Animashaun.
