A wind of positive change blew across Ikorodu Division communities last Saturday, as two of the six newly elected council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division, namely, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele and Hon. Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, Executive Chairmen of Imota and Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA respectively, both graced 4th edition of the annual IDPIL scholarship and bursary award presentation held at N.S Sho Event Centre, Imota.
The Chairmen who spoke at different times at the event paid glowing tribute to High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN Odofin of Ikorodu who is the Chairman of IDPIL for investing in the future of Ikorodu Division through the annual scholarship and bursary award presentation.
The Council Chairmen equally pledged their support for the IDPIL S-H-E-E-R Development Agenda, while pledging their readiness to collaborate with the body in actualizing her vision.
This would be the first time since the establishment of the body in 2021 that Council Chairmen would openly identify with and express willingness to work with the IDPIL.
In his goodwill message, on behalf of the good people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Aroyewun congratulated the IDPIL/G for their impactful gesture through the Annual Scholarship and Bursary Awards.
‘This noble effort is more than financial support; it is an investment in the future of our young people. Many of them carry lofty dreams but are hindered by limited resources. By lifting this burden, you are not only fuelling their aspirations but also sowing seeds of hope, peace, and prosperity across our communities’, he said.
‘This scholarship scheme stands as a testament to the power of love, unity, and shared responsibility in shaping lives. It embodies the very essence of peace-building and community development’, he added.
‘Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA is proud to align with this noble cause and reaffirms its commitment to partnerships that empower our children, strengthen families, and secure the future of our Division’, he concluded.
Similarly, Hon. Benson, the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA wrote.
‘I want to take this opportunity to commend the Ikorodu Division Local Joint Task Force in Imota LCDA for their steadfastness, resilience, and cooperation with our administration. Over the years, IDPIL/G has consistently worked towards the growth and progress of Ikorodu Division and Lagos State as a whole’.
He equally thanked High Chief Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN, for his unwavering commitment towards driving developmental projects in the areas of Security, Health, Education, Environment and Road Rehabilitation across Ikorodu Division.
Benson also congratulated all the undergraduates who made it onto the list of beneficiaries for the 4th edition of the scholarship, bursary 1, and bursary 2 awards.
Critical stakeholders and close watchers of the turn of events have commended the Chairmen for extending the olive branch to the IDPIL as partners-in-progress, unlike some of their predecessors in office who antagonized the body.
