Less than two weeks after the APC local government primary election that produced Hon. Abayomi Ladega as the APC party flagbearer in the July election, fifteen aspirants in the election have formally thrown their weights behind the party’s candidate in a show of solidarity and loyalty to the party decision.
The former aspirants met with Ladega and his running mate, Hon. Baba wale Alogba at AiRoyal Hotel where they jointly addressed a press conference.
Reading the resolutions, on behalf of his fellow aspirants, Hon. Murishiku Ajisebutu stated that as party loyalists, they have put the primary election behind them and were committed to the party’s victory on the forthcoming local government elections.
Breaking the news on his social media page, Director-General of the Ladega Campaign Organization, Hon. Lawal Yusuf Gbadebo who welcomed the decision of the aspirants also praised their loyalty and selflessness.
He said, ‘Ikorodu Local Government and Division is the envy of all, known for our unity regardless of outcomes. Our historical bond is unbreakable. All 15 aspirants have reconciled and acknowledged Prince Ladega Adedayo as the APC chairmanship candidate following the concluded primary elections’.
‘Their campaigns were devoid of calumny and character defamation. No one is the winner; Ikorodu is the winner. ‘Prosperity for All’ is more than a statement—it’s an action plan. I’m thrilled to see this unity in Ikorodu; the love in the atmosphere is unprecedented’, he concluded.
Curiously, the duo of the incumbent Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba and Hon. Yusuf Owolewa Atebo were conspicuously missing at the event.
While Atebo was said to have endorsed the decision of his fellow former aspirants, the disposition of the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government who is also a former aspirant is unknown as at the time of writing this report.
Roll call of the aspirants who attended the press briefing were the Captain of the group, Alhaji Kamaldeen Tijani Ajalogun, Mr Azeez Lamina Oshoala, Mr Oladele Ogunfodunrin , Mr Gbadebo Taofeek Oluwafemi and incumbent Leader of Ikorodu Legislative Council, Hon. Ajayi Adebowale.
Others were, Comrade Japheth Odesanya, Mr Yinka Majekodunmi, Hon. Lateef Afolabi Oyefusi, Alhaji Murisiku Ajisebutu, Mr Idowu Alli and Mr Mutiu Animashaun.
