The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina has stated that no Ikorodu Local Government resident will go blind under his watch.
Adeshina disclosed this on Tuesday, during the flag-off of 2-day free eye screening exercise and distribution of 500 free eye glasses to residents.
The exercise, which was a partnership with the Dareen Eye Clinic, according to Adeshina was aimed at bringing quality eye health closer to the people, through the 2-day event and formal opening of …Eye Clinic within the Ita-Elewa Primary Health Center.
‘Today, Ikorodu Local Government has set aside 200 eye glasses, while Dareen Eye Centre has also provided 300, making a total of 500 free glasses’, he said.
‘This is particularly good because health is wealth, particularly the eyes. This is our own way of promoting the health and well-being of our people, because the eye is a very important organ in our bodies’, he added.
I therefore call on the good people of Ikorodu Local Government to troop out to the Ita-Elewa Primary Health Center to take advantage of the free eye screening and eye glasses exercise.
Similarly, the Medical Director, Dareen Eye Centre, Dr Mrs Vivian Ihuoma Okechukwu noted that the free eye screening and eye glass initiative was in fulfillment of her passion to bring affordable eye health services closer to residents of Ikorodu.
She also hinted that, Dareen Eye Centre healthcare services will remain accessible to residents after the 2-day exercise at the newly opened office within the Ita Elewa Health Center.
A major highpoint of the event was the official opening of Dareen Eye Centre which was performed by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina who was supported by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba and other dignitaries in attendance.
He subsequently led other dignitaries on a brief tour of the facility and commended the Management of Dareen Eye Centre for partnering with the Council in promoting the health of her residents.
The event was graced by the Chairman of All Progressives Congress APC Ikorodu Division, Alh. Waheed Animashaun, LGA APC Secretary, Hon. Kehinde Ayanbadejo and APC Woman Leader, Alh. Rasheedat Bello among other top APC Chieftains.
