TRIBUTES AS DIGNITARIES, FAMILY AND FRIENDS CELEBRATE OLORI MULIKAT OMOWUNMI AKINYEMI, MOTHER OF VETERAN MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST, OM’OBA ‘PEJU AKINYEMI ON HER 95TH BIRTHDAY

Saturday, 5th July 2025 will remain a memorable day in the life of Olori (Mrs) Mulikat Omowunmi Akinyemi as dignitaries, family and friends within and outside Ikorodu gathered to celebrate the legacy of the Matriarch of the Akinyemi Ajabiogofa Royal Family.

Olori Akinyemi is the mother of veteran Multimedia Journalist and Advertising Consultant, who also doubles as the Founder & CEO of Ikorodu Oga Radio, Om’oba ‘Peju Akinyemi.

The 2-in-1 Birthday Thanksgiving and Reception was filled with songs of praise to God for the preservation of the life of Mama Akinyemi.

Prophet Adelaja from Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Christ Holy Ghost Assembly who Ministered at the event, spoke on the theme: A COMPLETE LIFE described the life of Olori Akinyemi as one graced by God.

The Clergy also praised the dedicated or the celebrant to the service of God even in her old age. He therefore charged guests to emulate the life of the Matriarch, noting that a life lived for God, in Christ was a complete life.

The triumphant entry of the celebrant who was elegantly adorned in a colourful wine lace attire signalled the commencement of the Reception which is the second phase of the celebration.

Dignitaries, family, friends and children of the celebrant who took turns to speak at the event described Olori Akinyemi as a selfless, God-fearing and hardworking woman who has not only impacted her biological children but everyone that has crossed her path.

Mrs Adenike Akala, first daughter of the celebrant described her mother as a mother-indeed, whose love for her children known no bounds. She equally described her mum as a devoted woman of prayer who prays regularly for her children, grand-children and great-grand-children.

In his own tribute, Om’oba ‘Peju Akinyemi described his mother as a hardworking woman who possesses a resilient spirit. The veteran Multimedia Journalist recounted how his mum had been solely responsible for raising his children since the demise of their dad 45 years ago.

‘Peju further stated that his mum sold all manners of cooked foods and other items which he hawked as a child as a way of supporting her children’s education. This he said was apart from selling off some of her valuables like expensive jewelry and clothes in order to meet the education needs of her children.

The Chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Alh. Kolawole Fatai who betrayed emotions in his brief remarks stated that there is nothing as good as celebrating one’s parents during their lifetime.

Other guests paid glowing tributes to Mama Akinyemi for living a life of legacy, worthy of emulation.

The event climaxed with the cutting of the birthday cake which was moderated by

Olori Mulikat Omowunmi Akinyemi subsequently hit the dance floor for the celebrant’s dance while leading Ikorodu-born DJ, Rasheed Fatuga dished out old melodious songs of King Sunny Ade, Musiliu Haruna Ishola for the amiable Princess of Onamuwa Ruling House of Batoro and Olori Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Family of Sagamu.

Some of the dignitaries that graced the event were the IKODASS Chairman, Alh. Kolawole Fatai, Bashogun of Ikorodu, Chief and Otunba Usendo of Remo Land, Otunba Enifeni both or whom led other members of the Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Family of Ikorodu to the event.
