SOLEBO ESTATE GETS MAJOR BOOST AS REP BENSON GIVES FIVE COMMUNITY ROADS MAJOR UPGRADE

After more than three months of sustained construction work, five major internal roads within Solebo Estate — Afolabi Ekiyoyo, Abike Jokogbola, Serah Olakunbi, Yomi Oshikoya, and Sabitiu Olokunola streets are nearing completion, marking a significant infrastructure boost for the community.

Speaking during an appreciation visit to the project site, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson described the intervention as “fixing my own home.” He shared a deeply personal connection to Solebo Estate, noting that it was where he grew up and that his late father shared a close bond with the Solebo community. According to him, this emotional tie makes it especially fulfilling to be the one restoring critical infrastructure to the estate.

The visit also served as a moment to recognize and appreciate key leaders and stakeholders who have played vital roles in the project’s success. Among them were Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, Member, Ikorodu LSHA; Oloye Oye Solebo; Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser on Rural Development; and Hon. Sulaimon Kareem, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West, alongside other senior officials and community representatives. Hon. Benson also acknowledged the efforts of local government Chairmen, commending their consistent commitment to grassroots governance and community development, which he noted has been instrumental in driving people-centered projects across Ikorodu Division.

Emphasizing the broader context, Hon. Benson described the Solebo road project as a clear example of what true constituency projects represent, adding that the initiative is anchored under the leadership and developmental influence of President Bola Ahmed Asiwaju Tinubu, whose governance philosophy, he said, continues to drive inclusive growth through elected representatives in Ikorodu.

He further highlighted the far-reaching impact of the project, noting that it will stimulate business activities, ease traffic congestion, boost real estate value, and encourage increased residential habitation within the estate. He also commended residents both indigenes and non-indigenes for taking ownership of the process by registering for their voter cards, stressing that civic participation remains key to sustainable development.

Looking ahead, Hon. Benson assured the community that “next year will be even better,” revealing plans among other lined-up projects to construct a stadium in Ikorodu West, with work expected to commence January 2026.

In his concluding remarks, he expressed gratitude to the contractors for their patience, trust, and benevolence, and specially acknowledged the Accountant General for his intervention in bringing the project to fruition. He also announced that street lights will be installed across all five streets, with assurances that other infrastructural needs across the area will be addressed over time.

Community leaders, in their separate remarks, expressed deep appreciation, describing the intervention as a moment they have “finally received and felt true leadership.”
