Immediate past Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, has stressed the importance of voters’ registration, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adeshina made this known on Wednesday when he paid a private visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Engr.) Dr. Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, to present a gift and express his appreciation to the monarch for his unwavering support during his tenure.

The visit formed part of Adeshina’s ongoing gesture of gratitude to leaders, supporters, and mentors who played key roles in his administration.

Several political associates and community figures that accompanied Adeshina on the visit were Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, Party Chairman; Mr. Kehinde Ayanbadejo, Party Secretary, Arewa Community; Hon. Banwo Azeez; Hon. Shafari Murisiku of Ward C; and Alhaja Rasheedat Bello, Ikorodu Divisional Woman Leader, among others.

In his address, Oba Shotobi commended Adeshina’s loyalty and consistency, urging political leaders and party members to remain steadfast and united. He expressed appreciation for the visit and prayed that the next governor of Lagos State would emerge from Ikorodu.

The monarch also encouraged citizens to participate actively in the electoral process, adding that any polling unit with the highest PVC registration would be rewarded with one million naira, while the unit with the highest voter turnout would receive five million naira.

Speaking in an exclusive interview after the presentation, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina explained that the visit was aimed at showing appreciation to those who stood by him during his tenure, with the Ayangburen being among the foremost figures he wished to honor. He noted that similar gestures had been extended to other notable leaders such as Baba Oluwafemi Bashorun and Prince Abiodun Ogunleye.

Adeshina emphasized that his administration laid a solid foundation for Ikorodu and stressed the importance of sustaining that legacy through unity and continuity.

On the forthcoming 2027 general elections, he urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing it as their weapon for shaping governance. He further encouraged citizens to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates across levels, noting that the party has delivered tangible results in local, state, and federal spheres.

The visit reinforced a shared call for gratitude, loyalty, and civic participation, reflecting the enduring collaboration between political and traditional leadership in Ikorodu.
