Over four hundred vulnerable elderly women and men were empowered through the Mary Nwauju Foundation on Friday, 19th December, when the foundation successfully hosted the 4th edition of its annual outreach programme, themed ‘Elder Nourishment Drive’.
The humanitarian initiative, which continues to stand as a beacon of compassion and social responsibility, focused on improving the welfare and dignity of senior citizens through the distribution of essential food items to selected beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries, who were selected without bias for their religious, ethnic and political affiliations, received staple foods including rice, beans, spaghetti, noodles, and other household necessities aimed at easing the current economic challenges.

The outreach, according to the organizers, is also aimed at giving beneficiaries the opportunity to experience a truly merry Christmas in their variius homes, devoid of hunger and lack.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, founder of the Mary Nwauju Foundation and Managing Partner of Kingmead Group of Schools, Mary Nwauju, explained that the vision for the foundation was birthed from a place of love and a deep desire to keep the memory of her late mother alive through acts of service and compassion.
She noted that the ‘Elder Nourishment Drive’ initiative goes beyond food distribution, emphasizing that the initiative is about restoring dignity, reaffirming value, and ensuring that the elderly are not forgotten.

Expressing awe at the remarkable turnout recorded this year, Mrs Nwauju described the large turn-out of beneficiaries as both humbling and encouraging.
The philanthropist also called on well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies, and partner organisations to join hands with the foundation in sustaining and expanding the nourishment drive, stressing that collaborative support is crucial to reaching even more elderly lives.
Beneficiaries, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed heartfelt gratitude and offered prayers for the founder, describing her as a blessing and commending her compassion and commitment to preserving her mother’s legacy through impactful humanitarian work.

The 4th edition of the Elder Nourishment Drive once again reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to purposeful philanthropy and its growing impact in uplifting elderly communities.
