ODONGUNYAN, AGBEDE ERUPT IN JOY AS SENATOR TOKUNBO ABIRU FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF MAJOR ROADS

The people of Odogunyan and Agbede communities in Ikorodu North and West Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos East Senatorial District, erupted in jubilation Friday as the Senator representing the district, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, officially flagged off the construction of two major community roads.

The roads, Ojuemuren road in Odogunyan, and Ebuwawa road in Agbede, are critical infrastructure projects expected to enhance the quality of life of residents, boost local commerce in the rapidly growing axis of Ikorodu.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Senator Abiru, who was represented by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, reassured the residents of Senator Abiru’s commitment to improving human capital, infrastructure and socio-economic growth across Lagos East.

“This project is a product of our shared vision for sustainable community development. We listened to the yearnings of our people and worked hard to bring this intervention to life. I should reiterate that several projects, including roads like these, blocks of classrooms, primary health facilities, sports arena, markets, solar-powered street lights, electricity transformers, among others, have been delivered, are still being delivered across the district, ” Abiru stated.

The flag-off ceremony drew a large crowd of jubilant residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, and party stalwarts who showered praises on Senator Abiru for what they described as “responsive and people-centered representation.” The residents adorned major roads in Odogunyan and Agbede with banners, thanking the Senator for his consistency in bringing development closer to the grassroots.

Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ameen Ibrahim Apanishile, commended the Senator’s efforts, noting that the roads would have a transformative impact on local productivity and property value.

“This is a huge relief for our people who have endured years of hardship due to the poor state of these roads. Senator Abiru has shown that he is not just talking development , he is delivering it,” he said.

In his remarks, Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, expressed profound appreciations to Senator Abiru for the projects, stressing that the Senator had delivered roads in Ikorodu West, which include: Apnea Jimbo, Odediran, Ibu-Owo, Ojokoro Road, among other laudable projects across the district.

The United Joint Chairman, Odogunyan, Mr. Lucky Oluku, in his speech thanked Senator Abiru for coming to the rescue of the community, describing the gesture as remarkable and unprecedented. He said, : “The joy of our people today knows no bounds as we gathered for the flag-off of the Ojuemuren road to Agbede construction, a long-awaited project that brings renewed hope and tangible development to our community”.

Residents who spoke at the event could not hide their excitement. Mrs. Nneka Obazi, a trader in Agbede , said the new road would boost her business and reduce transportation costs. Her words, “Before now, we used to spend so much repairing our vehicles because of the bad roads. This project will make life easier for us and bring more customers to our market”.

Similarly, Mr. Taofeek Bello, a commercial motorcyclist, said the intervention would save commuters time and money. “We have been praying for this road for years. Senator Abiru has done what others only promised,” he remarked.

Dignitaries at the events include Alhaji Rilwan Jinadu, Alhaji Musiliu Adewale Sulaimon (Ola-4), Hon. Kunle Ogunbela, pioneer chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Toyin Salau, JP, Prince Adeniran Ogunbanwo, Prince Adedoyin Ogunbiyi (Jokotex), Hon Kazeem Showemimo, Ms Comfort Olafare, others are community stakeholders, religious and traditional leaders, executive members of various Community Development Associations, Executives of Community Development Committee, CDC, Members of the Senator’s team, including members of the East Consultative Forum, ECF.
