
Agura, one of the historic communities in Ikorodu Local Government today was agog as over 500 residents received free eye screening and reading glasses in the on-going “Jigi Bola” public health programme.
The exercise was a continuation of the 3-Day Free Eye Screening and Free Eye Glasses distribution exercise, sponsored by Ikorodu Local Government, which started yesterday at the Palace of Ayangburen of Ikorodu.
In his brief address to the gathering, the Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina highlighted the importance of the “Jigi Bola” program, aimed at preventing blindness and promoting eye health among the community members.

He expressed gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiating the program and bringing it to the grassroots level during his tenure as Lagos State Governor from 1999 – 2007.
Adeshina also disclosed that over 500 people received free eye glasses at the Ayangburen palace yesterday, and another 500 will receive them today at the Alagura palace, along with free medications.
The Council boss emphasized the importance of regular eye check-ups and overall health care, stressing that “health is wealth.”

He equally announced plans to transform the Agura Primary Health Center into a modern facility with 24-hour service before the end of his administration.
Speaking further, Adeshina appreciated the Lagos state government for the ongoing construction of the Agura road and promised to focus on inner roads in Agura after the major roads are completed.
He however noted that, though his administration has about four to five months left, he pledged to pay ensure the payment of salaries of executives and elders till the end of his term.

Royal Host of the exercise, the Alagura of Agura, Oba Ahmed Olakunle Ogunderu while welcoming the Council Chairman and beneficiaries to Agura also expressed gratitude to the Council boss for the healthcare program.
Oba Ogunderu also commended the Chairman and acknowledged his immense support for the community and the Monarch himself.
APC Ward Chairman, Comrade Segun Osonubi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Adesina for bringing the “Jigi Bola” project to their community, describing it as a significant opportunity for the residents.

In the same vein, Councillor Ward G, Hon. Oladimeji Oshikoya expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God, the Alagura of Agura, Oba Ahmed Olakunle and Executive Chairman Hon. Wasiu Adesina for their collaborations on the “Jigi Bola” project
Oladimeji further expressed gratitude to Hon. Wasiu Adesina for honoring the king and residents of Agura community, by bringing the “Jigi Bola” project to the community.

Tens of excited residents expressed appreciation to the local government and Alagura Palace for facilitating the health outreach.
