IKORODU ON TOTAL LOCKDOWN AS THOUSANDS JOIN IKODASS WALK-FOR-FITNESS RALLY AHEAD OF 2025 IKORODU OGA FESTIVAL

Major roads and streets across Ikorodu were practically locked down as thousands of Ikorodu sons, daughters, and residents today trooped out for the IKODASS Walk-For-Fitness, to herald the commencement of the 2025 Ikorodu Oga Festival Celebration.

The IKODASS Walk-For-Fitness is an annual fitness and publicity rally that precedes the celebration of the week-long Ikorodu Oga Festival.

The 2025 edition of the fitness walk has, however, gone down in history as the one with the largest turn-out of residents.

While the fitness Walk started like the normal walk, what makes the difference was the unprecedented mobilization of vibrant Ikorodu youths by the current IKODASS Executive, led by the Chairman, Alh. Kolawole Fatai Olayiwola.

The procession started gathering at the Ikorodu ultra-modern Town Hall before proceeding to the Ayangburen Palace to pay homage to the royal father, Oba Engr. Kabiru Adewale Shotobi GCIO.

At the Palace, Oba Shotobi received the excited youths and residents in the company of his beautiful wife, Olori Kudirat Shotobi.

The Executive Chairmen of Ikorodu Local Government and Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Abdulateef Ladega and Mayor Ameen Apanishile, who also joined the fitness walk.

The Chairman of Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Alh. Kolawole Fatai Olayiwola and his executive members were also on hand to receive the fitness ‘walkers’.

The mammoth crowd later filed in procession into major streets and roads from Ayangburen Road to Oriwu Road, Ireshe, Ota-Ona, and Alhaji Street before filtering into various parts of the community.

What makes this year’s fitness walk more colourful is the active participation of Fanti Carnival groups from Aga, Ijomu and Isele Quarters of the community.

With the unprecedented turnout recorded during the IKODASS Walk-For-Fitness today, it is now very clear that the 2025 Ikorodu-Oga Festival Celebration would be nothing compared to the previous editions by all standards.

Kudos to the indefatigable IKODASS Chairman, Alh. Kolawole Fatai Olayiwola, DCIO, for raising the bar of the annual community-wide celebration.
