Winner of the 2024 Ikorodu Man-of-the-Year Award, Rep Babajimi Benson has dedicated his award to the Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the Senate, Senator Tokunbo Abiru.
Benson also dedicated the award to all Ikorodu Division Royal Fathers and residents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Benson stated this on Sunday, in his remarks shortly after he was presented with the annual award by Ikorodu Division Royal Fathers, led by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Engr Kabiru Adewale Shotobi who was supported by the Sekumade of Ipakodo, Obe (Engr) Basiru Aremu Sotonwa and Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba (Barr) Semuideen Orimadegun Kasali.
The Ikorodu Division Apex APC Leader and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu Division, Deaconess Busola Elizabeth Isikalu and other dignitaries also assisted in presenting the award on behalf of the event host, Prince Adedamola Aderibigbe, Publisher, Starlight Newspaper.
Benson noted that, he could not personally take the credit for the award, noting that many Ikorodu Division personalities contributed into the successes he was being honoured for, stating that it was a of product of synergy and collective efforts of everyone.
Speaking further, Benson also noted that, he has avoided receiving the Ikorodu Man-of-the-Year Award for 7 consecutive years because he only believed in being celebrated at the end of his tenure in office.
The federal lawmaker however, confessed that his recognition as This Day Newspaper Rep of the Year compelled him to accept the Man-of-the-Year award, being a recognition from his own people.
Presenting the award to Benson, Oba Shotobi stated that, Rep Benson was deserving of the award.
The revered first-class monarch went further by recommending the Rep Member to the award organizers as the recipient of the 2025 Edition of the Award.
Responding, Benson thanked the good people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency for their loyalty and support for himself and the ruling, All Progressives Congress.
He thus disclosed that they haven’t seen nothing yet, pledging to do more for them towards facilitating more dividends of democracy to them.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Publisher of Starlight Newspaper and host of the annual Ikorodu-Man-of-the-Year, and Outstanding Personalities Award, Adedamola Aderibigbe stated that the award was initiated to recognize outstanding individuals who are contributing to the growth and development of Ikorodu Division in all facets.
He also congratulated all the award recipients, while charging them not to rest on their oars in their bid to make Ikorodu a safe haven for all and sundry
