
The Ikorodu Division Human Resource Development Board (IDHRDB) yesterday celebrated academic excellence and educational development among public schools, students and pupils across the Ikorodu Division.
The group equally lavished cash prizes, running into millions of naira on outstanding public primary and secondary schools as well as best secondary school principals Primary School Head Teachers.
Similarly, best students in the West African Examination Council and Basic Examination Certificate Examination (BECE) 2023 and 2024 respectively.
The bi-ennial education Stakeholders’ Summit theme lecture,.Family Background Child Socialization and Children Wholistic Development was delivered by Professor Biodun Ogunyemi of the Department of Sociological Education Studies, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Epe.
This was followed by a special discussion session moderates by the veteran Multimedia Journalist and Founder of Ikorodu Oga Radio, Om’oba ‘Peju Akinyemi.
The Chairman of Ikorodu Division Resources Development Group (IDRDG), Arch Taiwo Akintunde Kara said, ‘Over the years, this Summit has evolved into a critical platform for dialogue, collaboration, and innovation. It brings together a diverse group of Stakeholders, including policymakers, educators, researchers, parents, students, and community leaders, all united by a shared passion for improving the educational landscape in Ikorodu Division in particular and Lagos State in general.
The theme of this year’s Summit, “Investigating the Effects of Family Structure on Child Socialisation and Emotional Well-Being” is both timely and relevant’.
‘As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, it is imperative that we continuously reassess our approaches, strategies and policies to ensure that they meet the evolving needs of our society. Education is the cornerstone of any progressive society and it is our duty to ensure that it remains inclusive, equitable, and adaptable’, he added.
Corroborating Kara, Chairman of Ikorodu Division Resource Development Board (IDHRDB), Bashorun Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa noted that, ‘The theme of this year’s Summit, “Investigating the Effects of Family Structure on Child Socialisation and Emotional Well-Being”, serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. In a world where the pace of change is unprecedented, education stands as the most crucial tool we possess to equip the next generation with the skills, knowledge, and values they need to thrive’.
Rotinwa spoke further, ‘As we gather here today, we must acknowledge that the landscape of education is changing rapidly. Technological advancements, shifts in societal values, and the global interconnectedness of economies are reshaping how we think about and deliver education. These changes bring both challenges and opportunities, and it is up to us, as stakeholders, to ensure that our education systems evolve in a way that benefits all learners’.
Concluding, Rotinwa stressed that, ‘Today, more than ever, we must focus on the holistic development of learners. This means not only imparting academic knowledge but also nurturing critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, and a strong sense of ethics. Our goal must be to develop well-rounded individuals who are prepared to contribute positively to society and to lead in their respective fields’, he submitted.
Delivering the summit lecture, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi lamented that Western education has robbed Nigerians and other Africans of their traditional cultural and historic practices that supports healthy socialisation of children, hence, affected them mentally, physically and emotionally.
He further charged private school operators to consult with custodials of cultural and local stories as this will help them learn more about their route and bridge the avoidable gap between children, and Parents and Elders.

Best students and pupils in WASSCE and BECE were equally honoured with awards and cash prizes.
Two prominent Education Personalities namely, Emeritus Prof Chief Kunle Ade Wahab, OFR, OON and Dame Olabisi Adunola Benson, Founder, Ikorodu High School and Adunola Benson Private School were equally honoured.
