The political net of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ikorodu yesterday caught a very big fish as a prominent PDP Candidate in the 2023 General elections, Hon. Gbenga Shittu formally joined the party.
The former House of Reps candidate and hundreds of his supporters adorning their branded red face caps declared their loyalty to the APC at the Party Secretariat in Ikorodu.
The declaration which coincides with the party’s monthly LGA meeting was witnessed by a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and the Apex APC Leader in Ikorodu, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina and was warmly received by the Party hierarchy in Ikorodu Central, led by the Party Chairman, Hon Waheed Animashaun.
Speaking on the reason behind his decision to dump his former party, Shittu noted that, his experience during the 2023 general elections, where his former party was roundly defeated by the APC, despite all their efforts made him realize that APC was the party to beat anytime any day.

The soft-spoken Ikorodu-born politician also stated that he has decided to collaborate with the ruling party and other progressives in Ikorodu towards the development of Ikorodu and Lagos State at large.
Shittu was subsequently formally received into the party by Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, who handed him the party’s flag. He was also decorated with the party’s branded broche.
The Ikorodu Central APC Chairman, Hon Waheed Animashaun earlier in his remarks, appealed to APC members at the meeting to warmly receive the new joinees into their food and make them feel at home.
Ikorodu Oga Radio can authoritatively report that Shittu’s formal declaration for the APC was a culmination of previous strategic meetings and engagements he has had with the party’s Apex and LGA leadership.

Animashaun equally charged all aspirants who wished to use the party’s platform to contest the forthcoming local government elections in the State to shun desperation and not see their ambition as a do-or-die-affair.
He further warned them not to see the payment for forms to contest as a license for political appointments or compensation, if they lose the party’s ticket.

Similarly, the party’s Scribe, Hon. Kehinde Ayanbadejo charged members in attendance to encourage their children and wards who have just turned 18 to register and vote for the APC in the coming elections.
He added that the party would soon commence membership registration and appealed to attendees to renew their membership and encourage their family and acquaintances to do the same.
