
A new set of executive officers have been elected to run the affairs of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) for the next two years.
The new executive officers were elected unopposed today by delegates drawn from registered clubs, associations and groups under the umbrella of the socio-cultural community group.
The new IKODASS Executives is led by a retired Customs Officer and Auto-dealer, Alh. Fatai Kolawole Ogunfodunrin, popularly known as De-Groom.
The newly elected IKODASS Chairman once served the body as Deputy Chairman during the administration of Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, between 2017-2021.
Kolawole’s election is both historic and strategic, making him the first Deputy Chairman of the body to be elected as substantive Chairman of the over 33 years old organization.
In his acceptance speech, Ogunfodunrin thanked Ayangburen of Ikorodu and IKODASS past Chairmen for supporting his emergence.
‘I stand before you all today, with all sense of humility to address you as the Chairman-Elect of our great association, Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS). On this historic moment, I am overwhelmed by your love and for the opportunity given to me and my fellow Exco-Elect by the Almighty God to steer the ship of IKODASS at this critical moment in the history of this great body, and indeed Ikorodu community as a whole’.
‘I cannot but appreciate our revered Royal Father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr. Dr. Kabiru Adewale Shotobi (Ilufemiloba), the Ayangburen of Ikorodu for his fatherly support. I will also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Board of Trustees of IKODASS, led by Aremo Kamorudeen Ogunsanya, all Past Chairmen of IKODASS, including my predecessor, Asiwaju Rotimi Erogbogbo for their unwavering support towards my emergence’, he added.
‘I must not also forget to acknowledge the hardwork of the 2025 Electoral Committee. Thanks for doing a great job by upholding the integrity of our electoral system as a body’, he continued.
The Chairman-Elect also extended gratitude to his family members for supporting his emergence.
‘Without the support of my immediate and extended family members, I won’t be here today. I want to pay tribute to the memory of my late father, Late Pa Kolawole Ogunfodunrin Ajigbeda, my siblings as well as my lovely wife and children for their unalloyed support and encouragement’, he added.
Turning to his fellow newly elected Executive Members, he said, ‘To all my fellow Exco-Elect, I say a BIG Congratulations to you all. ‘Mo yo fun yin, mo yo fun ara mi o’. Now, that we have all been elected into office, we must all roll up our sleeves and hit the ground running. The clock is ticking already! We have a monumental task ahead of us and we cannot afford to fail. Millions of Ikorodu sons and daughters at home and in Diaspora are looking up to us to take IKODASS to the next levels’, he stated.
The new IKODASS Chairman also charged his Exco members to work with him as a Team.
‘I therefore call on you to join me as we work together as a team towards delivering on the IKODASS A-R-I-S-E Agenda that was the cornerstone of my Chairmanship campaign’.
Concluding, Kolawole extended appreciation to Ikorodu sons and daughters at home and for their past support stressing that ‘IKODASS is our collective heritage and I appeal to you all to join hands with our Executive towards taking IKODASS to higher heights’, he concluded.
