IDPIL SCHOLARSHIP AND BURSARY AWARD: FORMER LAGOS STATE HEAD OF SERVICE, PRINCE SEGUN OGUNLEWE SUPPORTS INITIAVIVE WITH N1 MILLION, ASKS COUNCIL CHAIRMEN TO FOLLOW SUIT

A call has gone to newly elected council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division to support the efforts of Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL) towards promoting academic excellence among undergraduates.

The call was made yesterday by a former Lagos State Head of Service, Prince Segun Ogunlewe at the presentation of scholarship and bursary awards to beneficiaries of the 4th edition of IDPIL Multi-Million Naira Scholarship and Bursary initiative.

Ogunlewe who was the Chairman of the Day at the event, made the call during his brief remarks at the event held in Imota, Lagos State.

He said, ‘One cannot attend this kind of event and not support thus laudable initiative’.

‘I wish to therefore use this opportunity to call on all our newly elected council chairmen to support the IDPIL in promoting academic excellence among our youths’.

Ogunlewe went beyond mere advice and counsel to the council chairmen by announcing the donation of N1 Million Naira as his own personal support for the initiative.

The retired Head of Service, in his speech, described the gesture by Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya as a fulfillment of one of the Biblical commandments to love one’s neighbour as oneself.

Ogunlewe further explained that a neighbour was anyone who can be affected by one’s actions or inaction, whether positively or negatively. This, according to him, is irrespective of the location of the person.
