COUNCIL CHAIR, VICE CHAIRMAN ASK NEWLY ELECTED CHAIRMEN TO REPLICATE REP BENSON’S FOOD BANK INITIATIVE IN THEIR COUNCIL AREAS, AS BENEFICIARIES LAUD LAWMAKER’S GESTURE

There have been calls to newly elected Council Chairmen across Ikorodu Division to replicate Rep Benson’s monthly ‘Apo Aanu’ Food Bank initiative in their respective Council areas to further alleviate poverty and hunger among residents.

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile gave this advice yesterday during the August edition of the iCare Food Bank food distribution initiative to the less privileged in the constituency.

Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Babawale Alogba equally corroborated Hon. Apanishile’s position, stating that the initiative has brought tremendous succour to the vulnerable residents across Ikorodu Division.

The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim, while speaking to the press, stated that an initiative as the ‘Àpò Àánú’, must be replicated to further reach more indigent residents. He specifically encouraged his colleagues, all newly-elected Chairmen across the Division to organise such palliative measures for residents, in their respective LGAs and LCDAs.

Similarly, the newly-elected Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba commended the heart of Rep. Benson for the initiative, highlighting that the consistency of the exercise has contributed immensely to the alleviation of poverty in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

‘I can call it a privilege for us in Ikorodu Division to have a one-of-a-kind representative like Hon. Babajimi Benson, who is concerned about the well-being of his people from top to bottom’, he said.

Meanwhile, the August edition of the exercise have particularly been praised for its organisation, seamlessness, and reach.
From the use of manual cards, the application process for the initiative, has been updated to an online procedure, where individuals may apply for themselves or on behalf of individuals.

This, according to the organizers was aimed at ensuring that the palliative reaches as many indigent Ikorodu residents as possible, demonstrating their unusual commitment to growth and impact.

Some beneficiaries of the August food distribution exercise have also expressed gratitude to the federal lawmaker for his benevolence.

Mr. Stanley, a beneficiary from Isiu, in Ikorodu North LCDA, expressed his gratitude to the House of Rep. Member, stating that he had previously imagined a bureaucratic process filled with nepotism while applying for the ‘Àpò Àánú’ palliative, but he was taken aback by the seamlessness and ease of the process.

‘I have always believed that anything politics may not be real, but I am truly surprised that I applied online, got picked, arrived at the venue today and now, I have my pack with me, an Àpò Àánú beneficiary shared.

For the 10th year of the iCare Food Bank Initiative, Rep. Babajimi Benson’s iCare Foundation has once again brought succour to the less privileged across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The August edition of the monthly Àpò Àánú food bank Initiative was held yesterday, 23rd August, 2025 at the lawmaker’s constituency office and saw hundreds of Ikorodu indigenes and residents troop in for their palliative bags, containing foodstuffs from rice to beans, garri, vegetable oil and other groceries.
