CONSTITUENTS ASK FOR ALTERNATIVE LAGOS ROAD, UPGRADE OF GENERAL HOSPITAL, STABLE POWER, DESIGNATED MOTOR PARKS, AS HON. GBOLAHAN OGUNLEYE HOSTS IKORODU CONSTITUENCY 1 STAKEHOLDERS

For the 10th time, the Lagos State House of Assembly, under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has hosted the 10th edition of the Stakeholders Consultative Forum across the 40 state constituencies of the state.

In Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon. Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, played host to hundreds of constituency stakeholders, comprising of traditional rulers, community leaders, market men and women, NURTW members, artisans’ groups, youth organizations and a host of others.

A prominent Ikorodu community leader and a chieftain of the ruling, All Progressives Congress (APC), Alh. Folorunsho called for the construction of an alternative road to the current ever-busy Lagos-Ikorodu road, stressing that the entire Division with millions of residents cannot continue to rely on only one access road to other parts of Lagos State.

The octogenarian also canvassed for the upgrade of the General Hospital, Ikorodu, into a Teaching Hospital to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of the facility.

Financial Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Com. Ajibade Ogunsanwo Idris, in his contribution at the event, appealed to the Lagos Assembly to legislate on the creation of designated motor parks across Ikorodu Division

He berated the current situation where commercial transporters are made to pick and drop passengers on the road, leading to a chaotic traffic situation across Ikorodu.

Similarly, other residents clamoured for stable electricity, transformers, grid roads, and economic empowerment.

Representatives of various organizations also made cased for their groups interests and increased it upon Ogunleye to escalate their requests to the Lagos State Government, through the Assembly.

In his address, Ogunleye thanked the stakeholders for their support since his election in 2023.

Responding to the numerous requests, appeals, and suggestions made by the stakeholders, the state lawmaker assured them that their concerns have been documented for onward transmission to the Lagos State Government.

He equally assured them that he would leverage his cordial relationship with Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Rep Babajimi Benson and the three council Chairmen in Ikorodu Constituency 1 facilitate some of the requests being made.

The stakeholders’ consultative forum was also graced by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Engr. Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Engr. Basiru Aremu Sotonwa and the Alagura of Agura, Oba Moruf Ogunnaike.

Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Adedayo Ladega and his Ikorodu West and North LCDA counterparts, Hon. Sulaiman Kazeem Olanrewaju and Hon. Ameen Apanishile, also graced the event.

Others were chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress and members of the press community within and outside Ikorodu.
