The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Adedayo Ladega, has assured residents of the council area of a prosperous 2026.
Ladega gave the assurances recently when he hosted stakeholders for the council’s 2026 budget consultative meeting at the council Secretariat.
Key stakeholders, comprising of community leaders, market men and women, youth representatives, artisans and some residents gathered for the 2026 Budget Consultative Forum themed “Budget of Prosperity.”
The meeting, hosted provided a platform for residents to voice their needs, share feedback, and contribute to shaping the 2026 fiscal direction of Ikorodu Local Government.
In his address, Hon. Ladega appreciated traditional rulers, religious heads, market leaders, youth representatives, and civil society stakeholders for their continuous support. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to the SEED Agenda, Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare, and Development — emphasizing that governance must remain people-focused and transparent.
Highlighting some achievements within his first 100 days in office, the chairman noted remarkable progress in empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and digital governance.
He stated that over 500 artisans and traders across various wards have benefitted from empowerment tools, while hundreds of students have benefitted from his administration’s free GCE registrations and summer programs.
He equally states that senior citizens have also begun to benefit from the ‘Itoju Agba’ Health Scheme, alongside ongoing road maintenance, drainage works, and the ‘Clean Ikorodu Campaign’ — all of which underscore his administration’s commitment to grassroots development.
Ladega further assured residents that his government remains focused on prosperity for all, promising continued investment in infrastructure, youth empowerment, education, and healthcare come 2026.
He also encouraged residents to maintain cleanliness, protect public infrastructure, and fulfill their civic duties through timely payment of taxes and levies.
He said the forum demonstrates his administration’s commitment to governance that listens and delivers, adding that with the support of residents, Ikorodu will continue to thrive as a model community within Lagos State.
Speaking on behalf of the council management, Mr. Johnson Adekunle, Council Manager of Ikorodu Local Government, reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains a people-oriented government dedicated to listening to the needs of its citizens.
Mrs. Bolade Morayo Adebayo, Head of Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, urged residents and traders to pay their dues promptly to help the government deliver more projects. She commended the administration’s early achievements, noting that within just 100 days, residents can already feel the positive impact.
The Coordinator of the National Youth Council (Ikorodu Branch), Comrade Boluwatimi Olorunibe, described the chairman as attentive and inclusive, commending him for giving young people a voice and space in governance.
Market leaders, represented by Iyaloja- General, Deaconess Busola Isikalu, called for interest-free loans, more market spaces, and improved roads to encourage trade and ease movement.
Representatives of the People with Disabilities also appealed for empowerment opportunities, mobility aids such as crutches and wheelchairs, and access to community halls for their meetings. Youth and religious leaders also made requests bordering on education, transportation, and community security.
Responding, Ladega assured attendees that their concerns have been noted and will be factored into the 2026 budget, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive and responsive governance.
The meeting ended on an optimistic note, as participants applauded the administration’s openness, the chairman’s first 100 days of tangible impact, and his vision for a prosperous Ikorodu in 2026.
