IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT HOSTS SERVICE COMMISSION, GETS ACCOLADES FOR INFRASTRUCTURAL DRIVE, SECRETARIAT FACELIFT

The Management of Ikorodu Local Government on Friday played host to the members of Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, led by the Commission’s Chairman, Hon. Baiyewu.

The visit, according to Baiyewu was part of the Commission’s annual routine visits to the local government in the State.

In his welcome address, Hon. Adeshina, while thanking the Commission for the visit also used the opportunity to provide insights into the activities of the Council.

Adesina started by reiterating his administration’s commitment to staff welfare and provision of a conducive working environment, disclosing that his administration has provided office tables, chairs, laptop computers and air-conditioners for offices.

He equally revealed that his administration recently increased staff monthly Stipend from N350,000 to N500,000.00, representing a 30% increase in staff allowances.

On infrastructures, Adeshina reported that his administration is currently delivering several projects across various wards in the local government.

He specifically cited the on-going construction of the Council’s legislative building, general facelift and modernization of the Secretariat building as one of the many administration’s legacy projects to be bequeathed on the incoming administration.

In his brief address, the Chairman, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Bayewu noted that the Commission’s visit was meant to ascertain the well-being of Council Staffs across the State, while also ensuring synergy between the Council staff and the Management.

Baiyewu also used the opportunity to acknowledge Adeshina’s unique leadership style while commending him for the on-going complete facelift of the Secretariat building especially in terms of infrastructure.

Earlier, Hon. Hakeem Adisa Bangbala and Mrs. Ajayi Omobola, representing the Permanent Secretary and Directors of Administration respectively, commended Adeshina for the massive infrastructural projects within the Council premises.

He noted that such improvements enhance staff productivity and public perception. He reiterated that the purpose of the visit was to observe staff performance, evaluate welfare systems, and suggest practical improvements.

They also announced that the Commission has been able to process about 2,500 promotion and conversion exercises in 2025.

They also gave insights into some of the Commission’s latest initiatives like the council-based knowledge-sharing initiative meant to promote learning, mentorship, and knowledge transfer among Staffs.

She also announced that the Commission is preparing to launch a statewide reward scheme to identify and celebrate exceptional staff across all council Secretariat.
