2025 IKORODU OGA CARNIVAL: TEENAGE AUTHOR, ISAAC PEJU-AKINYEMI TO BE HONOURED WITH IKODASS YOUNG ACHIEVER’S AWARD FOR PUBLISHING AUTOBIOGRAPHY AT 18

A new, positive and interesting twist is set to be introduced to the 2025 Ikorodu Oga Day Carnival, slated for November.

This year’s event will feature a new category of Award tagged: Young Achiever’s Award. The newly introduced Award category already has a nominee in person of Isaac Peju-Akinyemi, an 18 year old author.

The cheering news was made by the Chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Alh. Fatai Kolawole at the formal Book Presentation of ‘From Childhood to Adulthood: How I Navigated Different Stages of Growth and Development’, on July 24, 2025.

Kolawole who was a Special Guest of Honour at the event commended the teenage author, confessing that it was his first time of witnessing a young intentional teenager, who is already focused on impacting his peers and younger ones.

Justifying the basis for nominating Peju-Akinyemi for the Achievers’ Award, the IKODASS Chairman stated that, in a society where many teenagers are confused and recalcitrant, it was a thing of joy to see a teenager standing out and making a difference, by writing a book, a feat he noted is rare.

Other dignitaries who graced the event, include, a former Commissioner for Tourism Arts and Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola; Director-General of iCARE Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola and the Education Secretary, Ikorodu Local Government, Alh. Taiwo Odumbo and Award-Wining Ace Broadcaster, Ola Awakan who was the book reviewer and they all were unanimous in giving accolades to the young author.

The 236-page book, divided into three parts with 11 Chapters, chronicles the different stages of life, growth, challenges and triumphs of the young author.

In his welcome address, Isaac explained that he was instructed by God to write the book as a source of guidance, inspiration and motivation to other young teenagers and children who are currently in various phases or life and are struggling with growth challenges.

Award-Wining Ace Broadcaster and Journathepian, Ola Awakan who did good justice to the book review, commended the author for providing a detailed account of his growth trajectory in a no-holds-barred conversational writing style that makes the book an interesting read.

The multi-talented Spoken Word Artiste and Author, Isaac Peju-Akinyemi has pledged to donate copies of the new book to public libraries and selected school libraries, as a way of making the book available to teenagers and young adults who may not be able to afford to buy personal copies.
